Just wanted to start a thread about their offseason since they were knocked out last night. IMO, the Blazers could be a team taking a step back next year. I think their GM is a good GM but he isn't a great GM when it comes to FA. We all know the best way to build your team is by the draft but you have to be active as well in FA. From my understanding, the owner is looking towards letting Pritchard go. This will possibly cause some issues. Looking at their roster, they have a young but injury prone core. Oden and Roy have way too many injuries for them to compete. I read that Roy's knee injury has been a concern since he was drafted. I do think they'll try and make a trade during this offseason since Joel Przybilla's contract is expiring. I can also see them trying to either trade Camby or Miller. Portland doesn't have the capspace it once had. They overpaid LaMarcus Aldridge. If Roy was healthy this season, you basically had the same team they had last year with Camby taking Oden's spot. Camby gives the Blazers just as much as Oden does. It also looks like Fernandez will go back to Spain. I know Batum was injuried this year but man I wish we would of kept him.
I truly wonder sometimes how Blazers fans feel about KD 35 becoming one of the future Superstars in the league with the Thunder , while Oden .............. Injury after Injury + "Special phone pics"
Do blazer fans think the Andre Miller pickup was not worth it? 7M may be a bit much, but when you think most Rockets fans are happy with Lowry getting 4-5M, Miller's contract for an established guy who can score isn't too bad.
I think I agree. By which I mean, could the Blazers come back again next year and have another playoff season and maybe even get to the second round finally? Maybe. Certainly playoffs should be penciled in for now. But even getting to the second round, you kind of feel like the Blazers are going to be stuck in neutral, so to speak, which given how up and coming they once were, is somewhat like a step back.
They'll be playoff team but I don't seem them being serious contenders unless they can make some minor upgrades. Last year I thought they could be a serious title contender this year or the following year. They don't have all the assets they once had. Bayless should get more playing time next year and I think Rudy should of received more time then he did. I know this year they were plagued by injuried but I just don't see this team taking another leap forward. If everything is true about Roy's knee then they're going to have several problems in the future...
must sucks being a Portland fan the idea of Roy/KD combo I have a feeling they will never draft a C at #1 again.
I like Oden A LOT. I think is going to be a very nice player If he ever gets healthy. That said, he is in an unfair position because he has to be freaking Hakeem Olajuwon to make everyone have a change of opinion, and rightfully so.
He doesn't have to be Hakeem Olajuwon because there will never be a center like him. If he can stay healthy, all he needs to do is average 15 ppg, 10rpg, and 2bpg and people will get off his back. He'll never average over 20 ppg because he doesn't have any offensive skills.
