from Oregonlive.com Blazers send McInnis, Boumtje-Boumtje to Cleveland for Miles January 21, 2004 The Oregonian has learned the Blazers will hold a 3pm press conference to announce they have traded Jeff McInnis and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje to Cleveland for small forward Darius Miles. Miles, who is in his 4th season in the NBA, was the 3rd overall pick by the Clippers in the 2000 draft. An ultra-athletic swingman, Miles was averaging 8.9 ppg, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.0 minutes per game in Cleveland. McInnis, who was recently demoted to the bench after the strong play of Derek Anderson, was reportedly in head coach Maurice Cheeks' doghouse after complaining about playing time.
I think this trade reinforces the fact thatrasheed will be gone...The blazers will bring in Miles to play 3 with another similar talent Qyntel Woods
Darius Miles sucks ass. He's a *brilliant* athlete without a shred of basketball talent. He's almost painful to watch play. But he still has a great amount of potential, so giving up two scrubs for Miles is a good deal for the Blazers. It's amazing how far Miles has dropped in recent years.
Anyone remember Dwight Davis form the UofH in the mid-70s? That's who Darius Miles resembles. Davis was, I think, the fourth pick in some NBA draft and was out of the league in 2-3 years with exactly zero impact. Great dunker and exciting player but no other skills.
Arghhh!! So in effect all the mileage the Cavs got in 2002 from the leading asisst guy and best up-and-coming PG in the League is Jeff McInnis? If only they didn't bobble it on draft day, so that we could get our hands on Amare instead of the pathetic Boko-dude.... For those who do not remember: Amare didn't work out for any teams after his workout with the Rockets, so hardly anyone knew what an animal he was. Phoenix wanted Wilcox, the Cavs wanted Butler, Riley never drafts high schoolers. The draft would have gone: 8. Butler (to Cavs) 9. Wilcox 10. ??? but not Amare 11. Jefires 12. Ely 13. Haislip 14. F. Jones 15. Amare
doesn't mcinnis' also? and i guess boumtje-boumtje just couldn't take the beanings anymore. i could've sworn i remembered darius miles getting in some sort of trouble, but i can't imagine this extremely image-conscious leadership of the blazers would bring him in if he did so i guess he didn't. doesn't really seem to make sense from portland's end, but maybe i'm missing something.
Jeff McInnis is not exactly a scrub. He was Blazers starting SG after Bonzi trade and before Derek Anderson's healthy . He will give Dajuan Wagner a huge competition for starting SG and can be a backup PG at times. I think Cavs has an edge in this one.
...but, this butt of a fellow has never gotten along with his teammates. Very bad karma. They dumped Davis, will want to do the same with Mc soon enough.
