I love his game, but I dont think he will ever be healthy for a full season. For a young guy, he has had a lot of injuries, even more so than Tmac when he was young! That is pretty scary.....
That's always been the issue with Roy. All the talent in the world but does he have the durability to back it up? Welcome to the Tracy McGrady Support Group.
Sucks for him and the Blazers, hopefully he recovers soon. Such an easy person and player to like. BTW, can someone elaborate on his injury-prone nature. I haven't read about his injury history.
I agree, we have one of the if not the best in the NBA, put Tracy on a team in say Orlando and he might be retired right now.
You know, all these assumptions of the Blazers becoming a power in the NBA pretty much dictates on Roy being a superstar. If he stays injury prone, the Blazers have a real dilemma. Do they give him the max?
I feel bad for Roy because he really is a great talent. Always in control and he just knows how to play basketball. That said, I'm not going to feel sorry for Portland if he's out for an extended amount of time. They have a lot of time to be great while we have at most around 4 years. Any blow to our competition would be much welcomed, imo.
i thought about it several times when people overhyped the blazers for no reason. oden / roy starts way worse than yao / t-mac. not an encouraging sign. especially roy looks like a very, very injury prone player. he always was.
Bump. I know the article doesn't give a timeframe, but we usually have some quasi experts on this board when it comes to injuries.
If this only what they say it is, a scope plus a (closed) surgical repair of a meniscus, it shouldn't be bad. There would be very minimal "collateral damage" requiring rehab (cutting through muscle, etc). I would assume two months and he should be back to normal - will miss training camp and half of preseason. Evan
Nate McMillan was on the Mike Tirico Show and said he expects Roy to have a 4-6 week rehab and be back in shape by the start of the season.
