So, thought I would post a random stat. Total dunks to this point in the season: Blake Griffin 70 Rockets 52 Not sure what to make of the fact that we are the team with the least number of dunks in the league... Source: http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/23097/where-the-dunks-are
One thing for sure, we need more athletic players if we want to truly compete. I mean, how are we gonna stop the Heat? The Heat and Thunder are perfect examples of what kind of athleticism we need if we want to keep up with them.
***But then again, the Spurs did win multiple championships even when they were one of the most nonathletic team in the NBA**
He is my favorite player to watch in the league.......well not on the Rockets. Such a talent, haven't seen a PF come into the league with that much talent in forever.....he is going to be sooooo good. DD
I'm curious what is the correlation between dunks and winning%. There appear to be a lot of bad teams that dunk the ball frequently.
Total points to this point in the season: Blake Griffin 626 Rockets 2003 Layups are worth as many points as dunks. And threes are worth 50% more. So the guy can dunk. Great. He's exciting to watch. But his team is 8-22 right now.
I get more excited about scola's amazing footwork in the paint then dunks. Stromile swift was a good dunker.
Yeah, I was just wondering what the correlation between dunks and winning percentage is? Based on this small list, it doesnt seem very correlated. And yeah, Griffin is my favorite player to watch not on the rockets as well. If he ever figures out how to get his ft% up, he could be a dominant offensive player.
Wow, Holy -this forum needs and edit button- Batman! I forgot there wasn't one and thought I could go back in and clean it up. Anyway, it looks like some students(?) at Harvard had the same question, here's what they came up with (link instead).
Thanks. Here's the link: http://harvardsportsanalysis.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/the-dunk-fan-favorite-winning-strategy/
