www.blackberry.com/appworld The new Blackberry Apps World debuted last week. Have any of you used anything from it yet?
Slacker Radio is and Google Maps are the best ones. I got Facebook and a few other ones on there too. What I want now is an app for YouTube. Sure, I can go through the website but I would rather have a stand alone app for it, kinda like how I have the ESPN app on there.
I will be getting a blackberry storm in July, so in preparation I'm trying to follow the apps. I'll get Shazam, Pandora radio, from the featured apps that I could see. I'm sure there are a ton of others that I will also get.
Good to know that they're catching up with Apple in the App game. Makes the Blackberry more -fun- to use.
Okay the ones I like... Pandora Visual Voicemail: see and sift through voicemails Poynt: find movies, restaurants, bars, etc buzzd: rates food, bars, around you etc..., can be cool but seems to be new, not too many reviews on it BeBuzz: change/customize LED colors XENOZU: neat youtube app
Anyone else having problems with Slacker? I have a Curve 8330 and started having problems with Slacker freezing and/or not recognizing my account after a few days. I removed and installed it again but the problem returned almost immediately. Pandora is rocking just fine so I guess I'll stick with it alone for now.
Decided to bump this thread rather than make yet another Blackberry thread... My company has asked me to develop a Blackberry app for our clients (basically allows them to take advantage of our services via their Blackberries). They offered to pay for my own Blackberry to help with the process, which is pretty awesome. But since I never really even considered getting a Blackberry before a week ago, I'm not really all that knowledgeable on what it can do. In fact, I don't even really take advantage of all the features on my current phone (I'm probably the only person my age that doesn't text). I was just curious what kind of things you guys would recommend me checking out, or if you guys had any feedback in general (more so the latter I guess since there are already a bunch of app recommendations in this thread). Don't know if it matters, but I'll probably get a Blackberry Bold (need to get an AT&T phone, and it seems to be the best). I have done some research, so I'm not completely oblivious to its capabilities (particularly on the hardware-side). But anything that could help me better understand what Blackberry users expect from their phones would be great. Of course, any feedback from Blackberry developers would be great as well.
RC, I'm cornfused. Don't you have requirements on what your app is supposed to do? I mean, I could tell you I want a smartphone to be able to purchase a Coke from a vending machine (which they do in some parts of the world), but I'm guessing that's not what your app does.
If it helps, ignore the part about our app. It is more the setup to my question. Just imagine I'm getting a Blackberry, and I'd like to know what are some cool apps/features to check out. Not really looking for feedback on how I should develop our app (outside of general developer comments).
Just download the stuff off the top of the app world. They all have descriptions. Check out the utilities for productivity and business. In other words, download Blackberry App World and play with it. Get that Bold and tinker.
Do you guys know of any apps developed using Blackberry's Rapid Application Development tools (I think MDS Runtime is required)? Kind of curious to see what it is capable of.
Have you looked on Blackberry developer forums? You'll get the best of both Blackberry users and developers there, not to mention you'll actually see people talking about the apps already out there and read developer issues, too.
That's the next step I was going to take. I know I'll get a lot more feedback there, especially from a developer's standpoint. But I thought I'd give CF a shot first, just out of curiosity (we seem to have experts on a variety of topics). Spoiler Geez, that last question was definitely more suited for the developer forums now that I think about it. Don't know what I was thinking.
