Bears sending out request forms to speak to other head coach candidates per Adam Schefter. Still no word though that Lovie is out.
Just heard that as well, personally I think it's a major mistake if the Bears fire Lovie. Edit, words just come down they've let Lovie go. SMH, they better have a much better canidate in their sights.

A friend of mine is a dedicated Bears fan and said he would really be ticked off if they fire Lovey. They need to throw Mike Tice off a cliff and keep Lovey IMO. How in the world did Mike Tice ever get a head coaching job? He's not even close to being OC material.
Yeah, they should have kept Lovie. That offense has been a mess ever since I can remember. Even when they were in the Superbowl. I cant really blame Lovie.
I've been a life long Bears fan as well and I hoping they'd give him at least 2 more years, Tice was a disaster but the only choice after last season so there wouldn't be as much of a shake up in the playcalling from Martz. Lovie will get a new position ASAP and the only replacement I'd be happy with for the Bears would be Jon Gruden.

Question for you: After Mike Martz, don't you think they needed a shift on offense? IMO, Lovey is gone specifically because of Martz and Tice (and the o-line). I thought the Bears were Super Bowl contenders last season until Cutler's thumb injury. I think they could have made a run like the Giants did.
Tice was supposed to go to a more traditional style which is what he did but the offense just couldn't get any consistent efforts for whatever reason. Last season, if Cutler didn't get hurt Martz probably would have gotten an extension even with the ragtag O-line they put together which was mostly the last GM's fault. What scares me as a fan is that if they go with a hot OC or DC and just take a down slope wasting prime years for Cutler and Marshall. With the defense's age, changing over the staff could just kill the window.
Cowher, Kelly, O'Brien possible Eagles candidates per Sal Pal. Mike McCoy, Jay Gruden, Bruce Arians possible fallback options(also per Sal Pal). Bears have asked for permission to interview Broncos OC Mike McCoy per Jay Glazer. Lovie Smith and his tenure in Chicago: Spoiler tldr: Good defense, no offense, 9 years, 3 playoff appearances, only 1 in the last 6 years.
