Guile was the person I always played with, but it's pretty much no contest that back in the day Ryu was the most popular/used.
No substitute for the shoryuken. Sorry. And Ryu's super hurricane kick was the deadliest finisher move in the game, period. (well there's Akuma's raging demon, but that's it).
So, we can decide you were the "Guile" fan? I loved this game. I made an arcade close and give me free credits so I could finish with Ryu. I finished everyone else on Nintendo. That said, if anyone ever played this 1 on 1 in the arcade, they could always find somebody who could defeat you with the dumbest character. Mine was always Blanka and that damn lightning!
Yes, and I know what you mean. It was always the people who would just mash all the buttons and the joystick at the same time. Or, the people who would do nothing but jump kicks.
Who was the best? IMO it was Ryu and Ken, but who was I the best with? Chun-Li!! I was a badass with her jumping and kicks..
The key would be that the button/joystick mashing would make them so unpredictable that you were practically paralyzed. Half the time they'd randomly kick and punch and just when you finally get the hang of it, they mash the buttons and joystick so perfectly that they manage to pull off some incredible combo that you didn't even know existed.
Just to point out the obvious: No one on this forum could beat me in Street Fighter II with the original characters. That is not a challenge, simply a statement of fact. I own. Thank you, and good night.
It's funny how such a game can bring the closest of friends to blows. There's just something that cuts deep down to the soul after being taunted for losing to Bison's psycho crusher seven times in a row.
ryu was unfair? i think balrog is unfair <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_kUGu03RSgw"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_kUGu03RSgw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
It was probably tinman. I wouldn't be surprised if he confused the bald Indian guy with a crazy V Maxwell.
