Are you supposed to wear socks with closed-toe Birkenstocks?

The reason I ask is because I bought some today and these hurt like hell. I have always heard that Birkenstocks were supposed to be comfortable and was thinking that I might be wearing them wrong.

I have had exactly two pair of Birks in my life and I've been wearing them for ~15 years. I'm wearing the second pair, which I've had for ~7-8 years right now. I beat the first pair to death. The second pair has lasted longer mainly cuz I'm not in college anymore and don't wear them all the damn time.

I love these things. They do require a "breaking in" period, but its relatively quick. FWIW, I've only owned the traditional open-toed sandal; not the ones you're talking about. That said, I imagine yours would break in the same as the others.

I can't tell you anything about the socks. I've seen people do it; it looks goofy to me, but the closed-toe Birks look goofy to me as well.

I've own the boston style clogs for a 1.5 years now.

In the winter, wear white athletic socks. In every other season, wear without socks.

I've always wanted a pair of Birks. The best description I've heard of the comfort of a Birkenstock sole is my friend who said, "It's like walking on t*tties!" LOL

Its winter time, people supposed to be cool. No Birkenstocks for me. Do you smoke with a blunt or bong?

Back in the day it was (in no particular order) joints, pipes, and bongs. My friend had this killer little blue ceramic bong. It was awesome. I rarely hit blunts. I already smoked cigarettes and didn't want any more tobacco than necessary.

I had this bad ass little handheld bong. It was a glass vial with a rubber stopper and a rubber tube complete with mouthpiece. The rubber stopper had two holes in it. The bowl had a steel tube welded into the bottom (but still screwed off for easy cleaning) that ran down to the bottom of the glass vial. The other hole had one end of the aforementioned eight-inch-or-so rubber tube stuck into. Put some water in the vial, make sure the rubber stopper was in place (just snug; not tight), slight suction to roast the bowl and fill the vial with smokey-smoke, lift up slightly on the stopper, and clear out the smoke. It was like a one-person bong, if you can imagine that (of course, I shared). Lather, rinse, repeat, and proceed to get stoned as f@%k.

    That pipe rocked.

[/end derailment, but Brightside started it.]

They're sandals for gay, retired college professors living in Nantucket.

when it's warm - no socks
when it's cold - anything but white athletic socks. i usually wore brown or grey thermal socks.

i wish i still had my pair of boston's.... loved those shoes.
