If this was an Oblivion clone with a sci fi skin, it would sell like hotcakes.

But the hype is that this game is something much much more.

I found it at Toy's R Us Tuesday. It is a hell of a game. But greatly enhanced by having a dark room and a pumping surround sound. TRU has since stopped selling the game after corporate sent an e-mail explaining what a streetdate means.

Toys R Us ALWAYS sells games before they should.

I bought the Darkness last month and I was really dissapointed.

    - crappy AI, enemys just stand there
    - shooting out lights at every corner was annoying
    - the story tried so hard to be "dark"- nothing exciting

    hopefully this is much better

the demo on 360 certainly IMPRESSED.
its creepy, dark, mysterious, the story seems good so far, and with, at times, a lot of action... and i still havnt gotten to the graphics.

i will probably be getting it next week cause it seems my wife loved watching it as well.

You are the first person I've seen that did not like the game. I haven't played it but I will be buying it sometime next week when I pickup Bioshock.

To be fair, they are really very different types of games.

I thought the controls in Darkness was a little loose, and later in the game you become quite the overpowered badass, but for being a licensed game from a (somewhat smaller) developer (they are the guys that did Chronicles of Riddick on the XBOX though) it was pretty solid.

Regarding Bioshock; if Gamespot gives it a such a high rating that's pretty much huge praise across the board. I knew it was probably going to be good, I didn't think we were going to see these kinds of ratings. We're talking one of the best games out there now.

You guys that haven't really need to check out the demo. It looks amazing.

i played the demo, its great.
its completely different experience. i consider it more resident evil-ish.
its very creepy. the enemies are tough and usually surprise you.

Someone told me they saw a story on some CNN tech show that said the Bioshock demo causes an immediate red ring of death.
