Some new stuff for these games this week (mostly in the last 24 hours or so).

We got a BioShock 2 gameplay trailer (maybe minor spoilers?):
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=47807"/><param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=47807" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object>
There was a GameInformer feature a while back. In case you missed it, I think Wikipedia does an OK job of mentioning the main things about the plot and gameplay (again, maybe minor spoilers):
    Regarding the gameplay:

I think the Assassin's Creed 2 teaser site was launched this week. I haven't had a chance to check it out, but AC2 is in the latest issue of GameInformer I believe. Details:

Don't know if you guys have heard of this game (can't remember if it was ever mentioned here?), but Bayonetta is new action game made by the DMC director/creator. New Trailer:
    <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pq8ljcb3CZ8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pq8ljcb3CZ8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Finally, FF7 for the PS3 is now a reality. I'm talking about the PSN release of the PS1 version (what else would I mean?). It went up on the Japanese PSN this morning I believe. Of course...it will never make it to the US store. :( Yeah, I'm just using this as another excuse to continue complaining about the lack of PS1 downloads.

OMG what are you talking about. What is PSN?

As far as FF7 goes, I know FF7: Advent Children Complete is coming out soon in Japan, along with some novel "Along with a Smile" that focuses on Denzel. They're really trying to milk this compilation (AND YET NO REMAKE!?). If you saw the bonus ending of Dirge of Cerberus (DOC), it suggests there will be another game that takes place after DOC, with Genesis being a major character.

    PSN = PlayStation Network.

Square-Enix put up the PS1 version of FF7 on the PSN in Japan. So for $15 (I think?), you can and play it on your PS3 (and/or your PSP).

But as I mentioned, I have doubts that it will be released on the US Store. Square-Enix and other publishers have released a bunch of PS1 games in Japan, but many of them don't make it to the US (MGS, RE, Xenogears, etc.).

On a related note, I believe the FF7AC re-release is out next week in Japan (16th IIRC?). I think I might make a thread about it, although mostly/entirely because it comes with a demo of FF13.

Bayonetta is probably the only game I'm really interested in that list

Bioshock was fun but I never finished it, but the supposed multiplayer for 2 could be interesting

    Same with AC

FF7 never played lol, wasn't a console guy back then and I'm not sure I can handle graphics that old today, plus it's only on the japanese PSN

I finished and loved both Bioshock and Assassin's Creed. I'm looking forward to the sequels.

FF7 was available on PC. That's how I played it.

That's actually how I first played it too. Played a PC demo, then realized I really wanted the game. I did the whole "mowing lawns" thing and was going to get the PC version, but that somehow evolved into getting a PS1 to play the PS1 version.

Supposed to be out before the start of Ubisoft's next FY IIRC. So hopefully by March 2010. I'm guessing they'll try to target a late 2009 release (November?) though. Especially if 240+ people are working on it.

I haven't really followed it all too well, so there might be updated info about the release.

This is ridiculous. Do you reasonably foresee it coming to the US PS store if there is an outcry from fans, etc?

It sure as hell would be nice if they'd bring FF7 to the American PSN store. It would be profitable for Sony, it would give people who hadn't played it an opportunity to do so without shelling out $60 for a used copy with no case, AND it may even help build more support for a remake.

I don't think outcry would really change their mind. People have been complaining about this stuff for a while, but things haven't really changed. I understand it is probably a little more complicated than we might think, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Plus free money and all that good stuff. Of course, FF7 is a bit of a different animal...although then again, it isn't like MGS and RE are unpopular in the US either.

...then again, looking at Nomura right now, maybe they want to keep support on the low-end so they don't have to dig right into a remake right now. Nomura looks like zombie right now as it is:

(some more pics like this, but I was debating whether I would save them for the FF7AC/FF13 thread).

Do you still have FF7 for PC? I'm looking for a copy so I can play!

I'm hoping because of the popularity/notoriety of FF7 that an outcry will at least leave us with a valid reason why we can never seem to get any good games in the PS1 Classics section of the store. I can understand why MGS1 isn't in there because it can still easily be found in stores in the MGS Collection package, so the outcry for that may be less compared to FF7. I dunno, I feel like I say it in every thread when these things come up, but it would be so awesome to basically have a collection of some of the best PS1 games available on my PS3 in perpetuity.

At least with NES/SNES games, you can always use an emulator if you are feeling like playing one, but unless you have the original discs or pay a decent amount of a used copy, you are basically out of luck if you want to play any of the amazing PS1 games.

I think a lot of gamers feel that way. But personally, I've pretty much given up hope for the most part. I can't believe I once thought that we'd eventually get a good collection of PS2 classics on the PSN.

Geez....I just glanced through some of the PS1 games released in Japan. Really depressing stuff. :(

That's how I played it too. I found the CDs for sale at a garage sale :)

Bioshock is one of my favorite games. Can't wait for the next one!

Is the old FF for PS1 that rare? I picked up FF7 and FF8 2 years ago at a sam goody going out of business sale for $15 each. Guess I was luck :)

I guess it really depends on where you live and how lucky you get. I haven't seen it in any store in my city, and I always look for FF7 and Xenogears just to see if I'll get lucky.

I traded in all my old PS1 games back in 2002 before I left for college. It blows my mind that I could've made hundreds of dollars selling them on ebay now instead of turning them in for store credit back then.

Assassin's Creed 2 sounds to be fixing a lot of the issues from part 1 and sounds absolutely fantastic. I loved the setting in the first game and the setting in the second game looks just as good (Venice FTW!)

An episode of screwattack seems to have some more screens of Assassin's Creed 2 that look great!

Also, might as well post some news about Fight Night Round 4 here too since we are talking about new games. A couple videos and pictures that really show the improvements over Round 3:

I might but I have no idea where they are right now. I remember that it only works up to a certain point on later operating systems. I tried playing it on either the ME or 2000 and it only made it through 1/3 of the game before it wouldn't go any further. I searched on the net and it's the same for everybody else. It just wasn't compatible with newer OS's. Maybe it would work on XP or Vista but I don't know.

I had similar problems with some the Myst games. I actually had downgrade my quicktime to get those to work.

They do have Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PSN. That game's awesome. I also enjoy Twisted Metal 2. But yeah... not much good on there really.

The cheapest you can find a copy of FF7 online is generally $50, and that's with no case or instructions. Tack on another $20 if it has instructions, case, and is in decent shape.

It really is amazing what you can make selling these old games now. Makes me think I should never trade my games in ever again. Wait long enough, and they quadruple the value you'd get from trading them in now...

Well, the lack of PS1 titles on the North American PSN is attributed to the different legal/licensing procedures Sony has to go through to get them out.
