Inspired by TECH's signature: Bill Worrell during the Raptors game: "I think Yao Ming would have been a great VOLLEYBALL player".....and..... "Yao goes high for the rebound..........he jumped." Here's another one: Bill Worrell: "Yao was hit on the chin and he looks in great pain... was he hit by the rim, Kelvin?"
Everytime Bill Worrell talks about shooting good at the freethrow line they always miss right after he says it
I remember several years ago that while playing the Bulls, Worrell raved about how the Bulls won six straight championships in the 90s. WTF!!!!!! Duh! The team that was playing the Bulls-the Rockets- broke that streak for two years. How could he forget that!?!? I wrote the station, and they wrote me back saying- it was a common mistake. That's ludicrous.
We will really need to appreciate Bill & Calvin, I have league pass and the commentators for other teams are unbareable. I've watched Bill & Calvin all my life and they're the best in the biz. I sometimes turn off the volume when I got the other commentators, they kill me.
I'm just worried that Calvin will be offered a job covering games for a major network, and the Rockets will lose him. He's that good. Raven
A better team would be: Calvin, Bill, and Matt Bullard. You can tell Bill is getting a little bit tired of all the Murphisms at times (esp. when the Rockets are losing), and he would be better suited at being a mediator b/t Matt and Calvin (Calvin being the comic relief, and Matt being the straight man). Three man booths are also better when the team is struggling, and there's nothing left to talk about besides Calvin Murphy's basketball camp.
Yea you guys really have no idea how good we have it...some commentators are deplorable...the chemistry that Bill and Calvin have developed is incredibly entertaining....funny but not distracting...
If your b****ing about Worell and Murphy then you may need to talk things over with the anti-Malosky dingleberrys of years past and they'll now be able to tell you just how bad it can get.
I agree they are great together but you never hear their voices in the highlight reels its always Gene HOW SWEET IT IS!!
One often only knows how good it is after he lost it. At the same time, one often loves something the most when he can't get or don't have it. How paradoxical. Sorry, got a little carried away at philosophical pondering.
I wholeheartedly agree. Didn't it really suck last year when only one, yes ONE game on league pass was televised with the rockets commentators. Every other teams commentators are just terrible. I'm almost 100 percent positive that, in retrospect, you guys would sorely miss Bill and Calvin if they were to leave. Be appreciative of what you have now, cuz it doesn't get any better.
Grown up hearing them, and I love them. Like other posters have said, listen to other announcers and you'll realize how good we have it.
