During the Seattle/Dallas game, Bill Walton just said what his All NBA 1st team would be G - Nash G - Mcgrady F - Nowitzki F - Duncan C - Shaq He also said he's not sure if he would vote Kobe on any of the three teams.
man, what do you do with wade, lebron and kobe. you could argue lebron has been better than both and tmac. and you could argue nash is the mvp but hasn't been better than any of them. as much as people bag on kobe he put up 28/6/6 which isn't matched by many. and then there's iverson's huge 30 and 8 season. i would say having anybody but those 4 and nash and tmac on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams is silly and i'd put lebron at sf (that's what he plays on cleveland right?) to get at least 3 of him, kobe, wade, and iverson on the 2nd team.
I think that what TMac has done for the Rockets since our slow-start this eyar deserves a spot on the All NBA Team as well as some consideration for the MVP award. For the second half this year we have been playing outstanding basketball and Tracy is the main reason for that. Lebron is great and all, and yet still his team is fighting for the eighth spot in the East. He's not a first-team all NBAer this year just yet. Wade is really riding Shaq's coattail, like what Kobe did for many years. Neither of them deserves to be on the first all NBA team. Kobe doesn't even deserve to be on the thrid team. I agree with Bill Walton on that.
imo, there should be no argument that lebron has been better then t-mac. their stats are very very similar but mcgrady has led his team to 48 wins already, and hopefully more, in a conference where our seventh seed is a minimum of a third seed in the east. lebron has yet to even clinch. i love the kid as a player but why does there have to be so much rush to award him everything? let him earn it. as good as he is, that won't be a problem for too long.
For this year, T-Mac should be ahead of LeBron. If LeBron continues his giant strides of improvement, he will leave T-Mac, Kobe & Nash in the dust in years to come. T-Mac is better now, but LeBron's upside is scary. Sorry Shaq, I've seen the NBA and it's LeBron, not Amare. Besides his immense talent, LeBron's basketball savvy at age 20 is amazing.
Mine: 1st Team - Iverson - Nash - Nowitzki - Duncan - Shaq 2nd - Wade - McGrady - James - Wallace - Yao 3rd - Arenas - Allen - Marion - Garnett - Stoudemire -->I really want Nash and Wade to switch places on that list, but I know I'll catch hell for it. Evan
Plagiarism! Bill Walton copied my All-NBA Team from a month ago. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?threadid=92664 Have to change the second and third team now. NBA 1 - Nash, T-Mac, Dirk, Duncan, Shaq NBA 2 - AI, Wade, Marion, Stoudamire, Yao NBA 3 - Allen, Ginobili, Lebron, KG, Ben Wallace
Interesting stat seen last night -- Philly is sub-.500 since the arrival of AI, probably the single most entertaining player in the NBA, one of the best, and probably the one who leaves more of himself on the court night after night than anyone else I can ever remember.
bill walton's main qualifier was team record and whether or not they would be going to the playoffs. thats why he left kobe off. it was harsh, but funny when he said "i wouldnt even put him on my 3rd team". same w/ garnett. his team isnt even going to the playoffs and lebron is struggling to hang on in the east.
I don't think that's fair. He is over .500 if you take away his rookie season which shouldn't really count anyway, that's why it's not taken into serious consideration when awarding the ROY, see Lebron and Carmelo. The 2000 season was the best a Sixer team has had since Moses Malone and Julius Erving were on the team and they didn't make it to the Finals. One thing AI can't get past no matter how hard he plays is his frame, individually it makes the shots he takes that much tougher to make and the punishment harder to take. Team wise he can't impact the game as much as he would if he was the size of a typical shooting guard, or even today's typical PG. Imagine him at 6'10"! All that heart, talent and the mentality he brings to every game, he'd be the best player in the game, bar none.
I would look at how many All-Star teammates he's had in his time there. Don't forget, he did lead his squad to the Finals one year. How many times did Dirk get there with the help of Nash and Finley? How about Webber with Peja and Bibby? Paul Pierce and Walker? Iverson is a HOF lock. There has never, ever, been a more dangerous player pound-for-pound. Not Calvin. Not Tiny. Not Clyde. Not Havlicek or the Pearl. The only possible exception I can think of is Cousy, and even he was bigger than AI and had 9 fewer PPG. Iverson is 6 foot nothing, 165 pounds while soaking wet, and has a career average of over 27 points per game. That's ridiculous. Want to know where that puts him right now? NUMBER 3 ALL-TIME in career PPG. Only Wilt and MJ are above him. No one else on the list comes close to his height. Evan
JumpMan and Emjohn -- I was not indicting AI, just passing along an interesting stat, at least one I found interesting. I thought my AI comment was positive. JumpMan -- are you creating a picture of Shaq's body being inhabited by AI? If Shaq had AI's 'head', look out civilization! Emjohn -- All Stars? It is difficult to pair an All Star with AI. I thought C-Webb would be the ideal stud to complement Iverson. Maybe one really does exist. Stevie and AI had some great match ups when SF was a Rock.
