Bill Simmons rant on Yao and prediction on rockets outcome

    I remember for a minute moment Simmons admitting he was wrong about Yao being one of the biggest busts in the history of the NBA after he averaged 25-9. Now, a couple injuries later, he goes back to the Bill Simmons of old. Sports writers can never admit they were wrong.

    Also, in the article he predicts the Rockets losing to the 1st round to the Spurs.

    simmons is pretty much an opinionated boston fanboy; i don't mind that he is what he is, i just don't understand why people put more stock into his "analysis" than the average fan. he's no expert by any means.

    Comparing Yao to Muresan. C'mon Simmons you're better than that. He's just mad that Yao made him eat crow when he was advocating so hard for Jay Williams to be #1 pick.

    Yao can shut them up if he wins a championship or advances far in the playoffs. To date, he's given his detractors little reason to doubt him since he's often *not* made the playoffs and even if he has, he's been booted out in the first round. Big question ... has Yao won anything yet?

    Yao has won the hearts of billions of people. Much more important than winning an NBA championship or playoff series.

    Bill Simmons writes for entertainment value (and is damn good at it if you ask me) so don't take this stuff too personal. I think the reason some fans get so upset over this is because there could be more truth to his comments than people want to admit.

    That said, Adelman isn't worth a dime if he can't find a way to use a 22/10 guy in the offense. I don't think that will be an issue once everyone settles in and gets in shape.

    Yao's health and durability is a big concern. A legitimate one that was raised from the beginning.

    Let's just hope he stays healthy this year.
