he talked about how new jersey is no better place than denver already is. in the last 45 seconds kornheiser mentioned the knicks, and simmons talked about how houston took their picks in february, and houston has the best assets to trade with denver. He also guranteed that melo wont go to new jersey.
Why is everyone so sure he won't play in NJ? Mega rich owner. Team is relocating to NYC. Talented big man. It appears to have everything he wants.
How did that Mega rich owner do this season? He was spitting a big game by saying he's gonna get LeBron and Bosh. What happened? He got Travis Outlaw and Johan Petro instead. That team didn't get any better, probably worse because they lost their best player in Lee. The whole NYC thing is a cliche and overrated. If playing in MSG is so damn good, why aren't LeBron, Bosh or Wade there right now? They won't even play in the garden and aren't gonna be in NYC until 2 years from now. Melo aint waiting that long. What did that talented big man do for this last season? Net them 12 wins? Lopez is good, but he aint all that.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here. With the billionaire owner, you can't count him out just because LeBron and Bosh wanted to basically form a huge trust in Miami. He had the assets, but if they didn't choose NJ, it's not entirely the owner's fault. As far as the allure of NYC, I think his wife, who is in show business, is more interested in NY life than he is, so that's a big part of it. Also, yeah, NYC isn't the greatest basketball city in the world, but if I remember correctly, he grew up in Baltimore, so he'll be closer to home than, say, Houston. Concerning, Brook Lopez, yeah he's a young kid and still has quite a bit to prove. However, with the season NJ had last year (and the season before that wasn't particularly great either), he might be under the radar a bit. He isn't all that, but he's good.
dude. 3 things. 1. Melo to NJ/NY is stupid because he wants to win. he's not stupid to think that losing teams will turn into championship contending teams with his arrival. it's like how much worst can those 2 teams get, even before potentially gutting their roster to get him. 2. SCREW where his wife wants to go, for real. 3. Melo is a lateral movement for the rockets if we trade Martin. Sure melo is better than martin, but trading one scorere for another isn't all that great of an improvement. Obviosuly if we could throw in Hill, Patterson, two 1 round picks, jeffries and whatever else, 4 of our 5 starters could potentially go off for 30 a night individually. BUT it won't happen. Can't trade a good player for a slew of mediocore players. I don't know why everyone is so excited about melo. dude has horrible FG%, turns it over like it's no ones business, and would be a ball stopper in our offense. The only 2 reasons I like melo are.. 1. Most well rounded offensive player in the league. no weakness on O. Also the refs know this, therefore he gets superstar calls all the time (so does Kmart when he gets to the line??) 2. LeBron > Melo...but when it's LeBron VS Melo...Melo > LeBron....and since there's a potential that Mr. James might be in the Finals (though Kobe is more likely) it would behoove a team to have Melo going against him. and back to studying i go...
Thats easy to say, but it does have a HUGE impact on where he goes. If he wants to keep peace in his house, then he better listen to her. But other than that, I agree with pretty much everything you said. I've said, and say it now, keep Martin and Brooks.
How exactly is scoring 28 ppg on 46% shooting a "horrible FG%"? Seriously, all you have to do is google a player's stats before you make up things that are outright wrong. Anthony has a career FG% of 46% which is higher than Aaron Brooks AND Kevin Martin. Guess both of them have "horrible FG%" too.
Umm, first you said he has a horrible FG%, turns the ball over and is a ball stopper. Then you go on to say he's the most well rounded offensive player in the league and he has no weaknesses on offense? lol Come on... stop flip flopping your views on him.
The original poster said Carmelo had a "horrible FG%". That is what I was responding to. He didn't say anything about TS%. The fact is that Carmelo shot a higher FG% than Kevin Martin last year and has a higher career FG% than Martin, and not only averaged a higher FG%, but has averaged significantly more points per game.
there's really no flip flopping about it. he IS the most well rounded offensive player in league. he may not have horrible FG% (bad use of words on my aforementioned post) but his FG% def could improve. i don't understand why those two things can't go together? stats are stats, and facts are facts..
had him on fantasy last year (not that it means i know everything about him) but he constantly shot under 40%. maybe his career FG% is better than what i saw...but as someone else said...TS% > FG%
