Brendan Haywood: Totally, horrendously overpaid, and yet not overpaid at all. Haywood's 2009-10 numbers (a contract year, but still): 30.6 MPG, 9.1 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.1 BPG, 56.2% FG, 62% FT. Sure sounds like what I'm getting statistically from Perkins or Jordan, right?

If you're Houston, would you rather overpay Chandler, overpay Jordan … or pretend you want to overpay Chandler, get Dallas to overpay him, then trade for Haywood instead? Even something like "Patrick Patterson ($1.9 million this season) for Haywood ($7.4 million this season)" works under the cap. Hmmmmmmm. If you're Dallas, let's say you offer Chandler a four-year, $69 million deal starting at $15 million in Year 1, then save $5.7 million with a Patterson/Haywood swap. Are you better off? As long as Chandler doesn't break down over these next four years … actually, you are.

    7. Brendan Haywood
Prediction: Traded to Houston (for Patrick Patterson and a future no. 1 pick)
Verdict: ONCE OVERPAID, NOW SLIGHTLY OVERPAID

Patrick Patterson AND a #1 pick for Brendan Haywood? Is this a gag column?

The Rockets is supposed to GIVE SOMETHING OF VALUE for Brendan Haywood's crap contract?

I recall a Haywood/Butler trade being considered and rejected by Morey back in 2009/2010, so I doubt they'd touch him, let along give something valuable for him.

I wouldn't mind getting Haywood for cheap.

    But Patterson + a future 1st?

You can shove that where the sun don't shine.

Would be fine with Haywood if we simply have to compete this year and not rebuild. But for Patterson and a pick? Lol.

LOL. Haywood and his contract is virtually untradeable.

He also said that Rockets shouldn't be afraid to offer Gasol a 4-year max deal, which is somewhat true.

I swear what are these guys smoking at ESPN? They think we are tat desperate for a center? Our team is better than the Clippers and others they constantly mention getting these players before we do. I mean literally better.

Why not just the Battier Trade exception, and if you have to throw in Flynn for a future 2nd round pick?

Wonderful, I just threw up a little. If this happens, I'm looking out my window for flying pigs.
