Anyone catch Bill Worrell reading a "shout out" from Bill the Rocket Guy last night? Bill the Rocket Guy has been watching the Rockets since way back in 1987. "That is a long time," quoth Mr. Worrell.

Whoa! Popeye! I thought I went way back because I started following the Rockets right after they moved to Houston. To have watched them in San Diego you had to have been there from the beginning. I guess having followed the Rockets before 1987 simply means that we are getting old. :)

Jesus Christ, how OLD are you geezers?!?!

Just kidding guys... haha... I go back to around '79 or '80 as a 10-year-old watching the Rockets and going to sleep listening to them on an old TRANSISTOR radio thingy. Of course it was hidden under my pillow because I was supposed to be asleep... [IMG]

Worrell was still in high school then I guess. Probably with Bill The Rocket Guy. Oh, that's right Bill was hired by the Rockets ten years ago ... I guess that's when the Rocket franchise started for the two Bills too ... gee and I thought the San Diego Rockets was a decent team when I watched them religiously on the boob tube, listened in on network radio and even got to a couple of games a year.

    Is my rancor showing? [IMG]

I go back to the first year in Houston. I used to chart the plays on a notepad as I listened to the radio.

There was no cable TV..most of the NBA playoff games were tape delayed. Even the finals.

I remember the uproar in the Eastern Conference playoffs in '76 when John Lucas was called for charging in game 6 I think, the replay clearly showed the other player was moving. Oh well, at least we finally won a couple.

Although I think it will be a few years until we win another one.
