So aside from the fact that the fox interviewer suggests that the decline of volcanoes on the moon somehow disproves global warming, bill nye goes to painful and extraordinary lengths to dumb down the whole conversation. It's quite painful to watch. <object width='320' height='240'><param name='movie' value='http://cloudfront.mediamatters.org/static/flash/pl55.swf'></param><param name='flashvars' value='config=http://mediamatters.org/embed/cfg3?id=201107280007'></param><param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always'></param><param name='allownetworking' value='all'></param><embed src='http://cloudfront.mediamatters.org/static/flash/pl55.swf' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' flashvars='config=http://mediamatters.org/embed/cfg3?id=201107280007' allowscriptaccess='always' allowfullscreen='true' width='320' height='240'></embed></object>
They gotta dumb it down for their audience... the only hard part to watch is the interviewer suggesting that since the moon isn't erupting anymore it disproves global warming. The guy needs to go back to middle school science class.
It looked like the Fox guy's head was about to explode after a few minutes of Nye. I think Hannity and O'Reilly should book him for a long interview.
Almost worse was the co-anchor at the end suggesting that Bill Nye could do some "number-crunching" to solve the debt crisis, like scientists, economists, and financiers are all the same thing. *facepalm*
I'm aware of that, but it made absolutely no sense other than the fact that yes, there is some math involved in both science and financial planning.
In fairness, Fox news guy probably learned all he knows about the moon from Bill O'Reilly: <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UyHzhtARf8M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's obvious that if some conservatives are this dumb, liberals must all be fully-informed problem-solving savants. Obviously the entire world can only be measured on a two-dimensional axis, and intelligence and political stance are co-variables. It's the only conclusion we can rationally draw. Perhaps Bill Nye could explain more where I fall short.
