This is Ayers latest interview, done immediately after President Barack Obama was sworn in. William Ayers was the former leader of Weather Underground.

Despite Ayers limited relationship with Obama, he worries about how the new Administration could ruin itself in the furnaces of war.

Ayers debunks many rumors swirling around his life and relationship with Obama. He also apologizes for his previous actions.

Hey, I don't even know Obama from the neighborhood and I'm afraid he will screw up his presidency in war in Afghanistan and perhaps Iraq or Pakistan.

Anybody who's head isn't in the clouds is concerned about this.

I believe Pakistan is the most likely. Obama himself in his commentary has laid the groundwork for this.

Given Pakistan's nuclear capability, this is the most frightening of the three.

Isn't Afghanistan the country where empires go to die? Seriously, no empire has successfully managed to dominate that area right? It's a difficult terrain, and there's only one Marine company there now. Soldiers are getting fat on Starbucks in Iraq...I'm not kidding...there's a good article by the Commandant of the Marines recently on how he's sick of the lazy crap going on in Iraq. In the meantime, there's that Hawaii company that has NEVER been deployed anywhere (because they were backup for the South Korea area) and they're the only one in Afghanistan (though there is more of a global presence there).

It's just a sticky, complicated, and messed up situation that really could screw this country if things aren't done very carefully.

Increasing troops in Afghanistan is stupid. Obama is only saying that because everyone is anti Iraq and its the popular thing to say.

Afghanistan is twice the size and quadruple the proplems of Iraq. It is a special forces war.

Pakistan has to be treated realistically and with respect . A real civil war and chaos there would make Afghanistan and Iraq look like nothing.

It's funny how Bill Ayers has become newsworthy again because of a casual relationship he once had. It doesn't matter what Ayers thinks about international politics (except to Ayers).

I get the feeling Obama isn't taking Ayer's calls.

    I agree.

What scares me is the saber rattling Obama did when the question came up. He spoke of sending troops into Pakistan if we had credible intelligence that terrorists (bin Laden, et al) were there.

This could turn into a disaster quickly.
