85 FEET, by a Texan of course. Unbelievable. Anyone see this one PBS ... 'Nature:Condition Black' ? http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/conditionblack/interview.html Some video of 'the ride' is there...
well the video was kind of boring. All he did is went straight down it. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/php/...ds=ken+bradshaw&show_title=none&search=Search
All the other surfers were having some difficulty actually staying ahead of the larger waves, the boards were just too slow. As for the boring part, it's far more impressive watching someone surf down an 85 foot wall on a big screen TV as opposed to internet video.
Oh I'm sure. That's probably what didn't do it for me. I was preparred to get blown off my chair....but it never happened.
What Cohen said, and I'd add that if we'd had the perspective you would get standing on the beach watching, you would have been blown away. (they'd still be looking for you! ) Also, his peers were blown away, which is really all we need to know. I think it's really cool the guy is a Texan. Damned cool.
try this one, smarty http://www.fifoux.com/show.php?id=67#vid WARNING!!! NOT SAFE FOR WORK IMAGES ALL OVER THE PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being called smart is new to me. Anyways, that rocked. That video was DAMN awesome, a much better view (with pretty good sound). Click on this link, not the one in Meowgi's post for a SFW version. SAFE FOR WORK VERSION
WOW!!!! Amazingly better perspective!! Far out, man! And I'm talking about the wave... it looks like CGI, the wave is so enormous. How in the heck did that dude stay on his board??
OMG. Beautiful (the wave ) I've seen 25' waves at the wedge in Newport Beach and was awestruck... 85' wave ... looks unreal, looks fake. They had a 'Nam Vet in a helicopter who was flying right down in the waves shooting an IMAX film. If I ever hear that IMAX film is at Bob Bullock...
Very cool how the pilot would fly between the waves and would literally at times be 30-40 feet under the crests.
There was a world champion female surfer that mentioned that they were impressed because many (including her) wouldn't try those waves and just stayed on the beach.
I believe it. If your board isn't just perfect, you will get worked by that wave. Getting worked by that wave, could easily mean someone's death, and would almost certainly mean serious injury.
