I know its early in the season, but everyone on the board kept reffering to the "Big Splash" in the offseason

IMO, i think it was JVG, everyone on the board knew our team was underachieving and its still waaaayyyy to early in the season BUT clearly the new head coach has instilled a new attitude in this team, these six games we havnt been playin like a team with potential we have been playing like a team with expectations which is alot more comforting for fans to watch

it really does amaze me of why some of the higher profile coaches in the league get the credit they do,..I mean so far JVG is everything and more than what the rockets needed

Its funny that when Feigen talked about "Big Splash" in his articles, he was talking about the coaching hire and not roster moves, so I would have to agree with ya on that. :)

Look at the way the Rockets are playing this season as opposed to last -- sharing the ball, helping on defense, running the offense through Yao. Is there any one player who could have had as much as an impact as Van Gundy? JVG definitely qualifies as a big splash.

    The offense is still suspect.

The defense is very good. That's JVG's and MoT and EG's contribution (MoT and EG let Cato into the lineup at PF)

Big Splash? We'll see against a real team tonight - I'm pulling for them - go Rocks! :D

If we had kept Rudy, he would have needed another player. He couldn't do anything with the players we have. His group was probably planning a big trade. Thankfully, Rudy got the ax.

I don't think you can call Jim Jackson and/or Adrian Griffin or Scott Padgett a big splash. For that term I think a big shake up - moving a big piece for another. JVG's done quite a bit moving Cato in the starting pf role and dealing with Mo and EG disappearing, but that Rice money is still out there, no? JVG gets his chance to re-make his players, but he also has that exception to trade them or hire a replacement. Personally, I'd like another bruiser, or a big point that plays d and won't turn it over.
We'll see what Jeff wants soon enough.

I think the reason JVG isn't a "high profile" coach is because that's the way he likes it. He goes out of his way to keep a low profile. He's all substance and no style. Just what this young team needed, seeing as how we've been all style and no substance for the last 4 years...

Its like when your at the neighborhood pool and the littlest sonofabitch in the place ends up making the biggest splash when doing a cannonball. Just like Van Gundy, the littlest guy of the bunch, making the biggest splash in the end.
