I am no Polygamist but . . . Why should it not be legal
    Consenting Adults etc.
[Not talking about making 12 yr olds marry 60 yr olds]

The state should not be involved in decreeing ANY marriages.

I think that it should be legal so long as you can take care of your wives or husbands without help. The that brings up the discrimination issue. I think it is a sticky situation.

    We already have de-facto polygamy.

    1. I don't think the state should decide who you can and cannot marry

    2. I don't think people who disagree with what you are doing should be asked to perform the ceremony

    3. Only potential problem I see with it is tax breaks, insurance and what not being abused. Not that I am a big fan of taxes and insurance but if people start taking advantage of it the rest of us will suffer higher costs.

    4. As a Christian I look at our country and ask why we take moral stands on things like this and use the Bible to argue it and say we are a nation under God, then we turn around and either ignore other things we are told or blatantly go against them...

I think polygamy should be illegal, and the sentence should be life with multiple wives.

This is really my main concern with polygamy as well. But as several others have said, the government shouldn't be telling you who you can and can't marry.

The reason why is people like to push thier agendas. It's funny how many so called Christians oppose to polamy and gay marraige but consistanly commit adultary. WHy would you outline any form of marraige. How do gays get off so lucky and have a good excuss why not to commit (lucky b*stard). They should be able to be punished to by having someone nag them too. Me personally I think all marraige should be illegal lol.

I got to agree. It also shows polygamy is so bad. If polygamy is to work you need many more women than men, and you have boys being thrown out and stuff.

Big Love is one of the best shows out there right now and probably number one when it comes to dramas.

I think it would be interesting to know what everyone would answer had this show not come out. I know it has made me look at it differently.

The only problem I have with it has to do with rights of the first spouse. If the first spouse is aware and agrees with the second spouse then I'm cool with it.

I don't think anything is wrong with spreading the love. If its not cheating, and everyone in it is ok with it, go ahead.

it should be legal but its not like if they legalize it u will have a buncha people lining up for polygamy. u wont have more than 1% of people actually doing it. gay marriage same story

so i fail to see how less than 1% of population doing something would dramaticlly affect insurance rates and other stuff. i think people tend to exaggerate the effect of these things to justify there opinion
