Watching the GS game, I can't help but feel that we'd be better off with a big point guard, who is a playmaker. I believe that Tmac is our best playmaker on the team, being able to make great passes from the top of the key due to his size advantage. Many times, be it Rafer, Luther, or Bobby, you can see a possible pass to a cutter that isn't made, and I feel that it is simply because the small guards can't get a pass over their defender, or even see the court that well. It'd be nice to get a great ball handler, who is tall, so Tracy doesn't have to dominate that duty. Our guards seem to have a problem, when pressured, on getting the ball to it's target. Perhaps a bigger SG would do?
Too difficult to find a decent one. Tracy has great vision and is 6'8. Its tough to find a sg that is 6'8 let alone one with passing skills. A pg like Jose Calderon could make that pass.
Why? He's not that much taller than Brooks and there's nothing he can do that Brooks can't. Plus, Brooks has a waaaay better shot.
There is no big guards out there who can nail the open shot and be a playmaker. Any guard who can be a playmaker and hit the outside shot with low turnovers will work. And surely there is somebody out there who is better than Alston who we can shove to the bench.
I don't think you sensed my sarcasm. Harris is light years better than Brooks. But I do agree, talking about Harris is rather pointless since there's no way NJ let's him walk.
He is 6-3/1.91, and much higher than Brooks. He is proved good pg, but Brooks may still need 2-3 years to develop. I don't know whether Yao and Tmac still have many good years left.
Just move Tmac to the Point.... And basically get one small deadeyed shooter who can also play the point to take the smallish teams. DD
Why is it that people think that when you are PG on offense you guard the other team's PG? Magic never guarded smaller PGs. DD
