Maybe it's because I'm a closet nerd, but dang, this show is funny-hysterical in a 3rd Rock from the Sun sort of way. "Homo habilis with the opposable thumbs says what?" "Huh?" "Yeah that's what I thought." Quite possibly *the* funniest sitcom on TV right now, in my opinion.
How can you say this show is the funniest when How I Met Your Mother comes on right before it? Not to mention It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and 30 Rock are the only real contenders right now. I do watch it though, it's better than watching half of Chuck before Heroes.
I love this show. Downloaded the pilot for free on iTunes, and I'm hooked! It reminds me of Frasier, in several ways. Niles was the funniest character on Frasier, but he wasn't the main character. Sheldon is the funniest character on BBT, but he's not the main character. Both are remarkably intelligent, sort of neurotic, and completely OCD about cleanliness. There's a hidden romance between two of the main characters (Leonard and Penny, a la Niles and Daphne). The writing is somewhat intelligent as well, IMO. The stereotypes (nerds, blond, etc.) are over exaggerated, but that's sort of what makes it so funny.
Sorry, this show is easily funnier than How I Met Your Mother or 30 Rock. Haven't seen Sunny this year so not sure. How I Met is too formulaic/tired for my liking. Big Bang is the first show I've seen this year that kept me laughing for like 10 minutes straight. The over-the-top stereotypes are done to perfection, and the nerd humor is just awesome (going to a Halloween party dressed as the Doppler Effect = genius).
Sorry. I find the show stupid. I relate far more with "Barney" from HIMYM, "Charlie" from 2 1/2 Men, and the Patrick Warburton character in "Rules of Engagement."
ya think so??? i actually think it's getting better. seems like they developed a bit of chemistry. not my favorite show by any means...but it's funny.
I tried getting into it by watching the pilot (Big Bang Theory).... I just wasn't feeling it at all.... I don't know, maybe i enjoy pot humor more or observational type comedies.... This one seemed like a reference vehicle of being a nerd... Maybe i should start gaming and not shower for days and go to a Steven hawking convention or something.... Maybe I'll enjoy it then...
I happened upon this show about a month ago by chance. The nerd factor caught my eye. I've been watching it ever since. Those guys crack me up.
This show has grown on me and I was looking at the cast bios when I noticed that the guy who plays Sheldon, Jim Parsons, is from Houston and was a memeber of Infernal Bridegroom Productions. If you are an old timer on this board, then you know Infernal Bridegroom was a theater company that was started by our very own Batman Jones.
Since the show came back, I don't find the show as funny as the first 6 or so. Maybe because the novelty of nerds being awkward around the hot chick has worn off and they're all friends now. Hopefully it'll go back on an upswing, because I do enjoy watching it. How I Met Your Mother was pretty funny tonight.
Is anyone watching Unhitched? It's rough around the edges, but with some more time invested, I think it'll be hilarious.
I'm giving it some time on my DVR schedule, it isnt cracking me up yet, but it is amusing. I'll give it a few more eps to see if it improves. Now, BBT is one of my favorites right now, I always find plenty to laugh at.
The only thing keeping me watching "Unhitched" is my desire to keep looking at Rashida Jones. I don't know that I like The Big Bang Theory, but it's watchable enough to sit through and garner a laugh here and there from time to time.
This show blows, it really isn't that funny and the characters really just end up getting on your nerves...Oh yeah...Barney is the best character on TV right now!
