Just because Miami has James, Bosh and Wade does not make them an instant championship team. Just remember how awesome it was when we had Olajuwon, Barkley and Drexler/Pippen and how painful it was when we couldn't even make it to the finals. From Wiki: Before the start of the succeeding season, the Rockets made a dramatic trade that sent four players to Phoenix for Charles Barkley.[72] The resulting "Big Three" of Olajuwon, Drexler, and Barkley led the Rockets to a 57–25 record,[73] and Houston swept Minnesota in the first round. However, after a 7-game battle with Seattle, the Rockets fell in the Western Conference finals to the Utah Jazz, a team they had beaten on their way to championships in 1994 and 1995.[73] The 1997–98 season was marked by injuries,[74] and the team finished 41–41 with the 8th seed in the Western Conference.[75] Houston once again faced the Jazz, this time in the first round, and they lost the series 3–2.[75] Drexler retired after the season,[76] and the Rockets made another bold trade to bring in Scottie Pippen to take his place.[77] In the strike-shortened 1998–99 season, the Rockets went 31–19, but lost to the Lakers in the first round 3–1 of the playoffs.[78]
A little different. Bosh/Wade/James are all in their prime and are roughly the same age, being that they were in the same draft class
Except that they are all most effective with the ball on their hands. Theyre gonna have to put aside their egos and actually CUT to the hoop off ball.
The difference is that this big three are in their PRIME and still YOUNG. If they don't win it all this year then they still have the next year and the next...
Big 3?? How about garnett, pierce and allen in there 1st year?? (when they weren't over the hill yet, and rondo wasn't even that relevent yet). What did they do other than dominate both east and west teams?? This bosh, wade and james big 3 in their prime>>>> celtic's big 3 at the time.
But their supporting cast will be nowhere even remotely close to the championship supporting cast of the Celtics that year, barring Riley selling his soul to Satan. Right now I think Lakers, Houston, Portland, OKC don't have to worry yet. Maybe a few years down the road, who knows. But next season at least the Miami team is not a true contender for the crown.
Supporting cast is completely different though. Look at the celtics roster: http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2008.html Most important being that they had the now all-star level Rondo who happens to be a PG. They also had decent bigs. None of which the Heat currently have. Will they be able to find players of that caliber with the amount of $ they are allowed to spend? The Heat are gonna be the 3 plus chalmers and the other 6 rotation guys are gonna be all league minimum players. The Heats chances for a championship this year is ALL going to depend on the Heat's scouts and execs...they're gonna have to find studs where no one else could. They'll have to scour the oversea leagues and development league.
so i guess running to the hoop through traffic for an alley oop is different from cutting to the hoop?
Wade and LeBron are in the top 5, maybe the top 3. And Bosh is in the top 10. They are all young and in their prime...
Yeah for ****s sake these guys have been in the league 7 years. When we set ours up they had been in the league 13 & 14 years respectively. With that said I think they will have an issue with too few basketballs.
Miami's triplet are 5-6 years younger, literally, than the past Big 3s of the Celtics and Rockets were man.
Is bron better than mj? No but are wade and bosh betterr than rodman and pippen? Yes Stats aside they're are alot of similarities
