Alyssa Milano: Biden Must Do More to Protect Abortion Rights https://www.thedailybeast.com/alyssa-milano-biden-must-do-more-to-protect-abortion-rights?ref=author
No one is trying to control women. Abortion bans are about not killing babies. Why were people pushing abortion bans when abortions had fallen from 1.5 million dead babies per year to 900,000 dead babies per year? Because 900,000 is still 900,000 too many.
The women of O-H-I-O disagreed with your opinion. SCWs want a FULL abortion ban, no exceptions. SCWs also want a FULL contraception ban. By not allowing women to decide when they are going to start/grow their family, SCWs are controlling women. It is that simple. Saying a fetus is a baby shows next to no knowledge of biology. Why should we let people who are ignorant of basic facts become "rule givers" or "truth tellers" or "thought leaders".
that runs counter to the Libertarian Party platform. Libertarians: Abortion is a matter for individual conscience, not public decree you have often claimed to be a Libertarian, yet you're parroting the spins propagated by the right extremists
so ur now back-pedaling ; why can't you just say that abortion is a matter of individual conscience, not public decree ?
I am pro-life. You said there is some contradiction between being libertarian and pro-life. I posted that you are wrong, there are many pro-life libertarians and then gave you a link which indicates yes, there are indeed many pro-life libertarians. From what stance, exactly, do you think I am backpedaling? I don't believe abortion is a matter on individual conscience any more than murder or robbery is a matter of individual conscience.
When I was an active member of the kibertarian party between 2010-2014 nearly everyone was pro choice. While many disagreed with abortion on a personal level, they felt the government had no business telling a person what to do. Lol I love how that article uses Ron Paul as an example of anti abortion. In his books he has stated his opinion is what I said above.
Says you, man on an internet forum. Lots of women disagree with that perception. And none of us can speak to the inner hearts of all anti-abortion folks anyway. I have definitely encountered some of the retrograde attitude of "barefoot and pregnant" or the more polite-sounding "a woman's place is in the home" stuff, and that's control, as plain as it gets. I don't believe that's your attitude, to your credit. But some guys really do have some sort of grudge against women, perhaps born of their own male insecurity or something. Here's news on actual babies, as agreed upon by everyone, not an arbitrary re-labeling of in utero. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health...-rate-hit-its-highest-increase-in-two-decades That's genuinely sad and a troubling trend. We should all do better.
Let me rephrase. The foundation of the Pro-Life position is not control of women, it is protection of life, hence the name. The foundation of the Pro-Choice position is not the murder of babies, it is the right to choose, hence the name. Are there weirdos who have some male control fantasies? Sure. Are there weird women who have fantasies about controlling men? Sure. Those people are not relevant to an actual policy discussion.
I'm curious what deterrence looks like. The American public, rightly, has no desire to commit troops to foreign wars after 20 years in Afghanistan and Iraq. Trumpism is proudly isolationist. What does deterrence look like if your adversary knows you don't have an appetite for conflict?
That is an unborn baby in the third trimester, which NO ONE permits to be aborted, unless under some very exceptional circumstances. To no one's surprise, you did not chose a first trimester image.
