Between Nash and Stoudemire, which one will miss the other one more?

I think it's going to be Nash, mostly because I just can't see how Hedo at PF is gonna work for PHX. They also lost Amundson, so it's one weird looking team with only one true interior-working/rebounding big.

NYK at least has a competent PG and a normal looking team.

Nash will find a way to win 55 games with this squad.

Everyone talks about how great Kobe taking his ragtag Lakers to a near-upset over the #2 Suns in '06, but has anyone actually looked at that Suns squad? It was basically Nash and Marion (comparable to Odom) and a bunch of journeymen. At the time people thought Diaw, Bell, Thomas, etc were all the **** because they looked great, but where are they now? Steve Nash makes players great, and he'll do the same thing with this squad. Look for Hedo to have his best season ever.

    (how do you edit posts?)

Stoudemire will definitely miss Nash more, but I think he'll still be fine. Nash has already shown that he can be great without Amare around.

I think it won't be either as much as people think.

The Suns are still going to be in wide open system, so Nash is going to pile up assist.

The Knicks are especially in a wide open system with D'Antoni, so Amare might average even more points with the Knicks since it does look like it is going to be a one man show at times.

I think Amare is going to be near tops in scoring with Durant; Melo; and Kobe.

If you really want to get technical about it, PHX has been playing with only one true interior big last year - Lopez. Stoudemire was atrocious on the boards and defense. So it's really nothing new. The guy was atrocious on defense and rebounding during the playoffs.

I'm actually really interested to see how Josh Childress performs playing alongside of Nash.

Mobley looks like the woman in that life partnership.

I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention to the Suns, but is Hedo really going to be their starting power forward? A career 4.3 RPG?

I know Nash has lost a step, but I think he still qualifies as competent right?? ;)

I think it will be tough to tell the results based on the numbers alone. Nash is getting up there in age, and he might drop off due to that more than due to Amare leaving. Amare will probably put up similar numbers, because he's going out to D'Antoni again and he'll be the featured scorer with the other current players being mostly role guys.

If you want to see Nash's impact, it might help to look at guys like Hakim Warrick. Playing with Nash might do wonders for him. It won't catapult to Amare's level, but he could be set for a career year by his own standards.

Even though Turkoglu had a rough year last season in Toronto, he could bounce back strong. The year before with Orlando, he had a great season. I think he's the kind of guy who can't handle playing for a losing team. If he's surrounded by leaders who can carry the load, he seems to give a lot more effort.

I am just not in love with the fact that they have a ton of SFs and not one real PF (even Warrick is a tweener). Amare at least got 9 rebounds a game and defended the opposing bigs somewhat competently (better toward the end of the season), I just can't see anyone of them defending, say, Luis Scola.

No one can defend Scola. He's a beast.

they need to get the rebound in order to start a fast break (most of the time), and how can their half court offense work without a big to dump it off too?

I think Nash will miss Amare more, simply because Amare has his old coach in NY to instill a decent pick n roll into their offense.

I think stoudemire, because Nash made stoudemire the player he is and most of his points were setup by nash, biggest example is Shawn Marion, the guy made the all-star many times bcuz of Nash and after he left the guy turned into a scrub.

I don't know. Nash had more than Amare to pass to. Amare only had Nash passing to him.

Yeah, probably 2 or 3 other jilted Clipper fans have done that analysis and come up with the same conclusion after Bryant flirted with them in '04 only to leave them alone at the altar.
