Since this was the big thing of the summer maybe we should look and see what we got versus what we lost. I personally was never a huge bosh guy but alot of folx here made me . . .rather ok if we had gotten him. I was not overly impressed with Bosh Chris Bosh : 37 mins | 3-11 shooting | 8 pts | 8 rebounds Luis Scola : 33 mins | 7-18 shooting | 18 pts | 16 rebounds This is just from last night. So I just want to kick it off to keep an eye on it this season. Statistically I think Luis will end up better. Relegate to third wheel Bosh becomes one of THE OTHER Guys on that team. Will he average 15~20 pts off dishes from Wade and LeBron? I think we will see more from him as the season goes on but . . I have my doubts if he will remain 'Elite' Rocket River
A bit premature, though the thought crossed my mind. I think Bosh will be fine, but that Miami team has much to figure out. I wonder if Miami struggles (relatively speaking) and Bosh isn't doing too well (i.e. not looking like a huge upgrade over, say, Udonis Haslem, who is not a bad player at all), will Bosh get voted off the island?
I know it is premature. However . .. This is one of those threads . . .we post our opinions and then come July . . . ZOMBIE it back up and see if we were wrong I'm glad you brought up Haslem because . . . I am thinking that is what Bosh will end up being a slightly better version of Haslem. Who pays 17 million a year for a slightly better version of Haslem?? Rocket River
I was amazed last night. I thought midway through the 4th Scola was having just an absymal crappy game, but then the announcers say he's got 16 and 16. In the end, his line looked pretty damn good. Even in a game where he is clearly struggling, he manages to be productive.
Call it homerism, but I went with Scola. I feel like Bosh has been wrongly pushed to elite status without actually doing anything. To me, he wasn't a max player, but a max contract is what it would take to get him. He thrived as a big fish in a small pond. He was often times the only option in Toronto and thus, the big numbers. Now not only does he have guys to share the ball with, but they are among the best players in the league.
Man I am holding on to this one for the duration of the season, I got crucified for saying Scola was as productive as Bosh. DD
I had no idea Bosh would look that lost with the Heat. He might go for career lows across the board. I pick Scola the way the Heat played.
I voted Bosh but I think it will be pretty close. You say Bosh is the third wheel on the Heat, isn't Scola realistically our 4th option? (Brooks-Martin-Yao-Scola?)
Not blaming you for starting the thread at all... I was thinking about starting a Bosh-related thread, too. Hell, I started the "when will Spoestra get fired" thread in July. I think Bosh is a lot better than Haslem at "Chris Bosh things"-- i.e. creating offense, use his atheleticism to beat the opposing PF off the dribble, etc. But if you are asking Chris Bosh to mostly do "Haslem things"-- i.e. spotting up for 15 footers, rebound and defend the post-- then I am not sure how much more effective Chris Bosh is compared to Haselm. The question, to me, is that with both Lebron and Wade on the roster, is there enough room for Bosh to do a lot of "Bosh things"? I think Miami either will need to find effective ways to run plays where Bosh is the finisher (like P'n'R) or find plays where Bosh has the ball and BOTH Lebron and Wade are off the ball. And if there isn't, and you have Haslem already, and if you have some glaring holes elsewhere (like the need for some true size, good PG, shooters), do you start thinking about trading Bosh for some of these things?
Scola will probably have the better season; I don't see Lebron and Wade giving the ball up to Bosh that often. I'd still take Bosh if we had any chance to get him, though.
Any idea why Scola didn't post up? The Rocks relied way too much on the outside shot last night. I love watching this guy play with his back to the basket.
I think that is the question. When will Chris Bosh be able to do Chris Bosh things? Take his man off the dribble? Well the Center will play off his man and wait on Chris to come in. I think of the 3. . . his game will by far suffer the most. Rocket River
He posts up alot in the euroleague and scores alot that way. In the NBA the refs have consistantly called him on offensive fouls of hooking to make his move. Effectively taking away some of his best moves and the score he usuualy gets off of it. I find it another odd call on Luis but it limits his arsenal purposely every time he goes to the post up and spin move. its called quit often on him when he goes to it.
as the person who started "the official I dont want Chris Bosh" thread im gonna go with Scola I remember i got killed on this board for saying Bosh is Weak and guess what he still is
Scola made a lot of mistakes last night but had a well rounded game stat wise but Bosh was horrible...
