Looking on my mobile so my view is limited but it seems advanced stats confirm that Green is likely the better shooter (I only say that because of the difference in level of comp) while Edwards is slightly better at everything else, no?
Im going Green Machine Edwards is a great straight line dunker like Lavine and Oladipo Green can slither and maneuver into position for the high rise dunk
Yeah, it's hard to call it apples to apples. But it is telling that Green's G-League season was more efficient than either Edwards' college or NBA seasons. Green has proven in these small sample sizes to be the better shooter and vastly more efficient scorer, and given that that's the strength of those two guys on paper, I have to give Green a slight edge. It's easy to prop up Edwards' 19/4/3/1 as a rookie, and on paper, that's an impressive rookie season. But his advanced stats all range from below average to just straight bad. I have to think that if Green does nothing else well as a rookie, he'll at least score more efficiently than Edwards has and boast better figures in his rookie season.
How is this possible? Green "only dunks" Edit: Doesnt Ant have free reign in Minny? No other vet or prospect stealing minutes and development time from him = bloated stats. I dont expect Green to have the same rookie stats (In Houston at least) due to the surrounding cast.
Edwards' numbers are better when you look at his numbers as a starter vs. reserve: Role Player: FG%: 35.5% 3PT%: 30.4% TS%: 45.2% Starter: FG%: 43.1% 3PT%: 33.4% TS%: 53.9%
Truthfully I think these two are pretty equal. I could see a Edwards/Green rivalry similar to Kobe and TMac if both guys stay healthy and develop as they are projected to. Gun to my head I go Edwards based off of his defensive potential (he is bigger, stronger and longer) and the fact that he has put up offensive numbers similar to Green but in the NBA. On the one hand this shows that Green does compare favorably to a guy who went first overall a year ago but on the other hand does demonstrate that Green's talent isn't perhaps generational. We'll see.
Never even considered looking for something like that. Again, they seem pretty evenly matched. Maybe Edwards gets the nod as the more physical guy while Green is a little smoother?
Jalen Green had a 61% true shooting %. Ant was 52%. That's the difference. And its huge. I mean there are other differences, but that's the main thing.
