Depends upon what you want to see/do. You probably should go and see both if you can swing it, as odds are one or the other will be at the bottom of the ocean before too long ;)

Frisco, has more charm to it than LA. The scenery is much nicer, you can stay in one Hotel and still get to the nearby attractions.

Yep, I would defintely favor SF for charm. In fact if I was picking one city in the US to show a foreigner to for a few days to a week SF would probably be tops.

I guess if you were into clubs or Disney (kids amusement stuff) that might favor the LA area, but I favor SF for most of what I would visit a city for (natural beauty, history, uniqueness, more central areas to take in local color, etc, etc).

SF has some nice cheap all you can eat seafood buffets, while LA has more of a night life.

LA traffic is a b**** and will consume half of your day if you don't know your way around the town...

    SF.

Point Reyes, Half Moon Bay, Big Basin State Park are all good day trips.

Another big bonus is that you can get around SF without a car.

I've been to LA, but not SF. That being said I'd still say SF by a landslide.

Agreed SF is a much more charming place to visit.

LA is a pretentious heap of dung.

    RM95,

You can get that here in Austin at the Atlanta Bread Company on William Cannon right next to the World Gym.

It is GREAT...they have all kinds of soups in a sourdough bread bowl...in fact, I am going to go there today, now that you mentioned it...YUMMY !!

I go earlier then that, in fact we are on our way in 10 minutes.....they rotate 4 soups per day...here is the schedule. with my favorites in Bold.

Monday - French Onion, Cream of Baked Patato, Chicken and Dumpling, Garden Vegetable

Tuesday - Chicken Gumbo, Black Bean and Ham, Classic Beef Chili, Mushroom Barley and Sage

Wednesday- French Onion, Cream of Brocolli, Chicken Chili, Tomato with Fennel & Dill

Thursday - Chicken Noodle, Wisconsin Cheese, Vegetable Chili, Szechuan Hot and Sour

Friday - Tomato Florentine, Clam Chowder , Chicken Tortilla, Lentil with Roasted Garlic

Saturday - French Onion, Southwestern Chicken, Pasta Fagioli, Spicky Black Bean with Rice

Sunday - Italian Wedding, Wisconsin Cheese, 7 Bean & Ham, Tomato with Fennel & Dill

I highly recommend getting there early so they don't run out of loaves of soup bowls.

Man, I'm getting hungry. SF! For all the reasons already given.

Go see "Beach Blanket Babylon", it's a riot!
