I watched the supersonics game yesterday and this guy just amazes me. He isn't anything special...well except his rebounding ability. This guy just goes after the ball and gets so many offensive rebounds. He is basically a cheap man's ben wallace. This trade would be fair for both teams and make the rockets contenders instantly. Houston receives: Danny Fortson, Antonio Daniels Seattle receives: Weatherspoon, Boki, Ward/Lue, and first round pick What do you guys think?
Sing with me, sing for the year Sing for the laugh and sing for the tear Sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away Dream On, Dream On, Dream On, Dream until your dream come true Dream On, Dream On Dream On, Dream On Dream On, Dream On, Dream On,oooooooooooooooooooohhhhh
It must be a contract year for him or something. One good year, two not so good years...that's how it goes with Fortson.
I saw that cat at Red Door in midtown about this time last year. (sorry no pics). he wasn't gettin no play from nobody.... ....so no to Fortson
Here is a typical clutchfans.net jackass. You think you're just so funny huh? There is just so much sarcasm going around. Every topic has at least a few people trying to act smart. If you want to state your opinion, just say it. Don't put up a song to prove your point. I'm sure there are other people here that feel the same way as me.
He has always been a tremendous (sp?) rebounder. He still has 2 more years left on his contract after this year. When he was at Golden State, he played very well, but they had too many post players in front of him like Jamison, Foyle, Dampier, and Robinson.
i disagree with the sarcasm... but fortson is better than spoon, and daniels is better than ward. they're set for swingmen they don't need boki. are the sonics really that much in need late first round pick?
You would think a cheap man's Wallace would get average more than 0.3 blocks per game and 0.5 blocks per game for his career. Fortson is an unathletic, below the rim wide body that serves only one purpose - rebounding. I would hate to see Fortson playing with Yao. Not only would the other team be in the foul penalty in less than 5 minutes, but there would be no floor spacing and less room for TMac to drive. I do not see Fortson as a productive team player for the Rockets.
our PF needs to add 2 things for us. 1. outside shot. we need this for better spacing and also to make the other team pay for double teaming yao of tmac. 2. interior defense. everything cato braught last year was great. keep yaos fouls down, block some shots and make it hard to score inside. being a good rebounder is a plus. now our current team of 4's give us #1. fortson won't give us either.
The main problem with our 3 power forwards are they’re too slow, unathletic, and short to deal with tall lanky power forwards like Gasol and Bosh. Danny Forston doesn’t help us.
i think you got em some thin skin. and, without sarcasm, why on earth do you think seattle would make this trade?
Can't get it done for 1. But I agree, Fortson is known to be inconsistent and to have a poor work ethic. He'll look good for periods of time (remember when he started in Denver with like 3 or 4 20+ reb games in a row?)...but then he falls off. He falls out of favor with coaches. If a guy is as good as he looked yesterday, there's no way he bounces around like he has. And there's no way he rides the pine in Dallas, in desperate need of rebounding and defense. (and Fortson, by the way, can't defend the low post for his life. I'd take anyone on the team now against a Duncan, KG, etc. over him)
Why not? First of all, fortson is playing power forward and they have 2 already in front of him. Daniels is not happy playing behind Ridenour (sp?) and they can get a first rounder. Weatherspoon's contract is a year less than fortson's and boki's comes off this year. That's why they'll do it. Why don't you think about it for a little bit?
Fortson sucks. All he can do is rebound. He can't play offense and he can't play defense. Say no f'n way to Fortson. If you want a good rebounding forward, look into trades for a Jerome Williams or Donyell Marshall, players that actually bring something else to the table.
If you want a rebounding machine why not Reggie Evans, this guy will be great off the bench as instant defense and energy.
Uhhhh... no. NONE of what they get is a desirable commodity. Three crappy players, and one late-first rounder which just translates into a 3-year guaranteed salary for what will almost certainly be... drumroll please... another crappy player! Daniels is actually good, and Fortson can at least rebound. Think about it: why do you make this trade if you're Seattle? Because you like the Rockets and want to make them better? Please...
