I try to find a Bestbuy thread to post this in, but it wouldn't let me post.

Anyways, I went there today to get a laptop for my dad, found the one I was looking for, then the dude said that the laptop comes pre installed with everything, you just plug and play, but its going to cost 60 bucks. Now I'm thinking to myself, "I have to pay them 60 bucks because all they did was install spy sweeper" I could do it myself and it would only take about 20 -30 mins. tops. So I ask them if they had any that wasn't pre-installed and he said no. So this black friday if you planning on buying a laptop , don't buy it from best buy unless you ready to pay an extra 60 bucks of installions you can do yourself.

Yes, go to Frys on Beltway on 59 and look for a tall skinny white dude named GREYHAM.

He will hook it the F up.

While I get what you're saying, that's a pretty weak complaint, and definitely not rantworthy.

Around July I went to go look at computers. There was this really nice dell that was $750. I looked at all the specs and wondered to myself why the hell it was so much. Then I realized it had a full version of Microsoft office installed which was jacking up the price. I asked the guy if there were any that didn't have the software installed and he said no, so I left. I went to Dell and saw the very same computer for like $600.

    ?

I don't understand what you are saying here.

Pre-installed what? Are you talking about just setting up the computer? They can't force you to use their setup service if you just want to buy a computer.

Those were the Blue Label PCs or whatever that were released for the back to school rush. They probably didn't have one without Office installed since that was a special edition computer.

And to the OP, I had something like that happen to me. All I did was talk to a manager and he waived the fee since all they had were pre-set-up computers. He said they usually have some without any Geek Squad business done to it but they were just out of stock. I got their $60 service for free haha.

If you don't buy it, someone else will cause most people who buy computers from Best Buy don't know diddly about computers and are willing to pay $60. It's no loss to them.

I buy all my computers from the Apple Store. Not coincidentally, I also happen to work in the very same Apple Store. No problems for me.

When I bought my laptop from Bestbuy they had all that crap installed on there. I told them I wasn't going to pay for it and they uninstalled it. The only crappy part was me having to wait 2 hours for them to have time to do it.

Someone just has to bring up Apple. The thread has nothing to do with Apple, but Apple just has to be brought up, lol. I gotta hand it to you guys, you HEART your computer.

I bought a laptop online and asked my mom to pick it up. It was already paid for and they said all they needed was the confirmation code. I gave her that and when she got there they said they were out of that computer but they had one with programs installed for x amount of money. so they wouldn't give her the laptop that was already paid for in thar specific store. It didn't help that her english is not that great. When my mom called for a translater the cashier simply hung up on her.

I was pissed so then I sent my sister who speaks English and. They gave her the laptop with no problem. So on top of everything they try to exploit ppl who don't speak English. Yes this was at best buy. f best buy.

They basically just installed spy sweeper from what I can tell. And I also told them to just uninstall it but the guy from the "geek squad" told the guy that was helping me with the laptop said "no cause it will take 2 hours". So he try to convince me to get it pre installed, I told him I wasn't planning on spending 60 bucks so he knocked off 20 bucks. But still its bs. I see you said they can't force you use the setup service but if your in a hurry something like that, they kind of strong arm you in taking it pre-installed.
But not only that, I bought the thing and when I brought it home I soon as I hooked it up to the internet, the laptop froze and a error message when pop up when I try to X out of something or pressed tap. So it took me 2 trips back there before they let me get another one which is working find, but this is the last time I'll ever do business with them when it comes to buying a pc.

I had no idea they do this BS now. It's just a lousy way to markup the price for nothing and take advantage of people. They might as well hire car salesmen.

Well, it IS a complaint about a rival retailer. And I DO work at the Apple Store. It's not THAT much of a stretch.
