The wife and I have some friends we go to the matinee' movies with about every Friday night. Actually we only made 31 movies this past year; the lowest total of the 8 years we've been doing it.
At the end of the year (tonight, we're a little late) we pull out the list and vote on our best and worst. For the first year ever,we had a unanimous selection for the best movie of the year.........

    Pirates of the Carribean

And a unanimous vote for the worst movie of the year.................

    Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Just for grins here's our list in order:
About Scmidt, Catch Me If you Can, Just Married,Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, Gangs Of New York, Daredevil, Life Of David Gale, Shanghai Knoghts, Old School, Undercover Brother, Bringing Down the House, Anger Management, Confidant, Mighty Wind, Italian Job, Bruce Almighty,Pirates Of The Carribean, Alex & Emma, American Wedding, Laura Croft Tombraider, Dirty Pretty Things, Lost In Translation, Under The Tuscan Sun,Intolerable Cruelty, Rundown, Runaway Jury, Scarey Movie 3, Master and Commander, Last Samuri, , Bad Santa

Old School , Mighty Wind, and American Wedding all tie for funniest flick.

So nominate one pic for your Clutch City 2003 Best and worst Picture and maybe I'll set up a poll from the favs on Oscar week.

(for us , 2004 already has LTR 3 and Mystic River so it's looking tough for next year)

    Best: Love, Actually
    Worst: Gigli

I know you didn't see a lot of those until this year, but there are quite a bit that are 2002.

Undercover Brother had to be like 2 years ago by now.

I think Pirates of the Carribbean was also the best movie, with Matrix Revolutions being the worst.

Maybe its cause I was on a long ass flight to Italy, in first class, and liquored up....

but I liked Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

come on, there were so many worse movies out there. Like that flick with Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate. Or LXG. Or Charlies Angels 2. Or Tomb Raider 2. Or The Medallion. Or Cat in the friggin wheres my 6 bucks back Hat. All of those caused me PAIN!!!!

Best flicks: Return of the King (sorry Nomar) and Pirates of the Carribean

Best movie - somewhere between Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Carribean, and American Splendor.

Worst - need to qualify - good movie gone bad -> In The Cut, or just bad dialogue, bad plot - The Sweetest Thing

Didn't get About Schmidt. Undercover Brother wasn't that two years ago? Old School and American Wedding had a few laughs but had to sit through a lot of junk - I thought Elf and Bad Santa were both much better overall.

re: Kill Bill - if you've already seen the movies he references for all the fight scenes, it doesn't seem that fresh.

    agree on most overrated, ROTK.

21 Grams has good acting, but the story is not that great, but we already had that discussion. :)

Best- LOTR- Return of the King
Worst- Both Matrix movies tie for worst. Add Charlie's Angels 2 to the dishonorable mention category. That was one of the most inane, purposeless movies ever made. I felt robbed having watched half of it.

Kill Bill is all about music and style. The soundtrack is absolutely perfect for the film and accounted for 90% of my enjoyment of the movie. I literally got shivers when Uma hamstrung Buck.

I havent seen gigli(no one is will to pay me) but yhe worst I have actually seen was easily Bad Boys 2. The first one was decent but this one was aweful.

As for Confessions of a Dangerious mind I really enjoyed it. It could have to do with the fact that i saw it in an air conditioned theater in France after being there for a month and half.

As for best movie i can really think of one that sticks out. I have not seen Return of the King, Lost in Translation, 21 Grams or City of God yet.

How is a movie nominated for an Oscar, probably going to win, and just last week, in the top 5 in revenues after over a month, underrated?
