I'm just testing my theory that either Monday or Thursday is the day of the week par excellance to start a thread.
I'd say just any weekday morning. A funny thing about this site to me is how many posters admittedly sit on here posting during work. Most discussion on here happens on weekday mornings (it seems to me) because of it. So, Monday morning, then it will have more time to be seen before the work week ends. And, where the hell do you get "Hump Day" from, ha? I can't remember having heard that before.
It's got to be Friday morning. Friday's a day in which everybody is at work, yet nobody is doing anything productive. Plenty of time for surfing websites like this one.
Monday morning seems to be the best time to get your thread read and responded to. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit well with my schedule, due to having to do actual work most of Monday, and most mornings. There seem to be peaks in the morning after people get to work and maybe in mid to late afternoon. Then again late in the evening. For a midday time, there's relatively little going on at, say, 11:00 or 1:00. I've had lots of "office hours" at these times when students can theoretically come by but usually don't. I find myself hitting "reload" a lot then and wishing more people were on the bbs at the moment. And that's especially true on, say, late Friday or Saturday night... or Saturday morning... or some other time that apparently too many posters have actual lives. (as for Hump Day, it's supposed to be because it's the middle day of the work week. If you get over the "hump", only two more days - less than half - left to go. Not because there is actually more humping going on that day. I think that would be Friday night or Saturday. )
No humpday. I'm almost married. I will have my humpday in less than two months. Is that TMI, I'm a little sick and not really with it right now.
Oh, I've given this topic quite a bit of thought. To have that true 4-6 page thread, you really need to avoid having your thread be active on the weekends. For a big boy like that, you certainly need to post it early in the week to allow for follow up time. Late morning is clearly the best time. Allow for the initial rush of morning threads to pass over, then get yours in at about 11:00am or so. That way you capture the lunch break and get a strong start into the afternoon. Of course, my threads never had any problem getting action. Just make sure to throw a bone to a couple of rabid posters (Did someone order a 5'9" weed smoker with no skills?) and you've got 2 pages of posts right there.
There's always the "where were you and how old were you when you lost your virginity" thread... but I don't think the admins would like that. As for the hump day thing... I merely happen to know enough about guys to know what they're often thinking about. Sigh...
Regarding the best time to post a thread, I would say its whenever you have something interesting to say, not whenever you start a thread just to see your name on the the first page.
