One of them must be Jerry the Penguin.
    Jerry West is the second,
and that Portland guy has to be the third one.

I'd say the 3 best are the guys in Toronto, Portland and Phoenix (I'm excluding the Rockets here as an attempt to correct for innate bias). Krause isn't as bad as people like to make out. He's alright, but he's not great, and he sure is taking a beating right now in the FA market. As for West, he's got a good reputation, but I could never figure out precisely why. Drafting Bryant was a smart move, but getting O'Neal was a no-brainer and trading Eddie Jones was idiotic. I doubt he'd have his reputation if he worked for, say, Denver. I have to credit Portland for being able to more than double the salary cap, but they lose some points for not winning the championship with that payroll.

    Jerry Krause,

Are you out of your mind! Krause and Reinsdorf have done absolutely nothing without Jordan. I would give it to CD of the Rockets who engineered some of the largest trades including some of the most high-profile players in the league and made them work! And that Portland Guy is Bob Whitsett and Yes he and Jerry West probably are up there too. Someone here thinks were in Bullscity.com. Jerry Krause and Jerry Reinsdorf are dirty businessmen that have such an inferiority complex because they want to be held responsible for the Championships and not Jordan. We all saw how Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Longley, Kukoc and the rest of the bulls played without Jordan. And don't give me this garbage about how picking Elton Brand was a better choice over Steve Francis or even Lamar Odom. No disrespect towards Brand who's a fine player....but that was the Wrong Decision! Chicago was burning for an exciting player to fill the seats again, Francis would have been perfect. But their loss is our gain. My ranking of best GM's in the last ten years would be Jerry West, Carroll Dawson and Maybe Grunfeld or Bob Whitsett....and if Gabriel in Orlando pulls this off...he'll be up there too!!

Until Next Time: Sorry Bulls Fans But Jordan's not coming back. And Duncan, Hill, McGrady arent going to Chicago. And if McGrady goes to Miami as he might, then orlando will pick up Jones. So Chicago will be left with nothing! Who will they pick up? Maurice Taylor and Brian Grant are PF and they have two... Jalen Rose is staying in Indiana or Detroit is a possibility...Rice is too old...And Next summer don't expect Chris Webber to com your way! Sorry Bulls Fans... You Lost! And Houston is at least 3-4 years ahead of you. And after Krause and Chicago's actions with one of the best teams ever don't expect fans to want to go there to play! Versus Houston, which has always been player friendly and a haven for free agents!
Hope your a true fan....its going to be a long ride!

Pat Riley is an excellent coach, but what has he done to be considered one of the best GM's. They feature the same old choking team ever year. Well anyways here are my three:

CD - Charles, Clyde, Francis, Shandon, Pippen, etc....
West - Shaq and Kobe, but comes in second for being dumb enough to trade away Jones for Rice.
Gabriel and the guy in Phoenix tie for third.

CD was an assistant coach when we landed Clyde, not the GM. And I think Bob Weinhauer landed us Chuck then left for an assistant coaching job in Milwaukee, giving CD the GM job.

If you will recall, the Heat were the NBA's Nuggets of yesteryear. They sucked every year until Riley arrived. He revamped the roster and they were instant contenders. That's not too shabby. He didn't make my list because I was thinking current and not last 10 years. I think he deserves due consideration.
