    It's actually very simple.

We know that being undermanned, we took this laker team to 7 games.

With a healthy squad, we can beat them.

If they win the championship...they will not make moves to improve their roster significantly.

With no new additions, and a don't mess with it if it's not broken mentality, it will set up our Rockets to beat the Lakers next year.

I just don't won't to see Kobe get his 4th ring. I still can't believe this will be his 6th trip to the finals.

That's very rational, but I can not root for the Lakers to win a ring. Just can't.

Look at it this way, makes it easier to accept.

I don't hate the lakers, they are a respectable and very good team. Kobe is a great player - and still the best in the game. Lebron will take that crown in a few years, but for now, he's the best player on the planet in my opinion.

Yeah, when the hand of God graces Yao and McGrady, we'll have a great team. Too bad God's sh-t to do.

I can't root for the Lakers either, but Boston and Houston were the only two teams that I thought would be able to challenge them if healthy in the playoffs. Once KG went down and once Yao went down (although the Rockets played valiantly in his absence), it seemed in all likelihood that the Lakers would go all the way - at least in my opinion. I don't think Cleveland has any real chance of beating them. Orlando, if they're hitting their outside shots, can present some problems, but ultimately I think LA prevails against them as well. It doesn't mean much to me, but I guess the Rockets and some fans can take comfort in the fact that we're probably going to be the only team that took LA to 7 games.

That has nothing to do with anything because the NBA is all about matchups.

The Rockets took them by surprise when Yao went down. LA said they didn't even look at tape of Houston w/o Yao Ming. When they had to win, they beat us pretty easily. Not sure what you mean by 'with a healthy squad' - if you mean just a healthy Yao, I'm not sure the series goes 7 if Yao doesn't go down. If you mean plus Yao and a replacement for McGrady, well we have no idea what that would look like. I do think Mutombo could have made a big difference though once Yao went out. I don't like your thesis b/c I'm not sure LA ever took Houston seriously. It's almost like they slacked off on purpose to convince themselves that they were 'being tested'.

I hope the Lakers do win, just to their embarrassment at our hands immortalized on their subsequent DVD. :p

I think the Magic have a good shot at beating them, not likely to happen though. I don't really care who wins... I'm just looking forward to next year for the Rockets.

On the flip side if the Lakers don't improve I can see San Antonio, Portland, Denver, or Utah beating them (depending on transactions). In which case it doesn't matter. Lakers aren't worthy of being deemed any kind of measuring stick.

With Kobe's legacy on the line this season (can he win a ring w/o Shaq??), I want to see Kobe fail. Again. Cavs, Magic, Denver, anyone but the Lakers please. The small moral victory (if it is even that) of stretching the eventual champions to seven games just doesn't mean much to me, and I doubt it would mean much to the players either, especially with the way the Lakers were fighting against their own sluggishness at times.

The last thing you want to do is to feed Kobe's ego. Please no.

The Lakes have 5 FAs, Odom and Ariza. Brown and Powell. They will have some changes.

And Bynum - for a full year? Maturing?

It's the NBA - every team changes. It's the recession - guys will be out there.

if kobe wins a ring without shaq i will be disgusted :( . yeah yeah call me a hater.

he is great but i dont want to see a dirty arrogant prick like kobe win a title without shaq. i want that to hang over his head forever.

i dont want to see a dirty player like derek fisher get another ring after what he did to scola.

i dont want to see the joy of mark jackson, doug collins, and magic and stuart scott as they gloat on how great kobe is and start the "kobe > jordan" arguments

i dont want want the lakers to succeed. period

i would much rather lebron james or houston's own rashard lewis win a ring before i see kobe raise the larry o'brien trophy
