I think NJ should be on that last:

    Kidd
    Kittles
    Jefferson
    Martin
    Mourning

On Paper, I'd say the Lakers. In reality, there are a lot of contenders.

    Portland!?

Maybe best starting 5 in an orange jumpsuit.

You might as well have included Milwaukee and Utah into that mix.

The Rockets are making a pretty impressive starting line-up. At least better than Denver and Detroit.

Yao - 2nd best center in the league
Cato - A monster on the boards, and a decent defender to boot
Jim Jackson - Good in the post, and plays defense
Cat - Can score on any body, sometimes a little too much...
Steve - Great guard, and maybe even a great PG under JVG

I guess I'm just a homer, but we look pretty good this year.

Phoenix has a better starting 5 than Portland, San Antonio, New Orleans, Denver, Detroit..

Look up their numbers last season. Phoenix starters combined for more points, rebounds and assists than the Spurs for example.

Marbury, Penny/JJ , Marion, Amare, Voshkul

Lakers, Wolves and Mavs have best starting 5 on paper.

Both Portland and New Orleans can put up mamoth size and crash the boards like no other. However Portland have bad chemistry while New Orlean's backcourt is insanely undersized. Indy can put up size too but their guys are kind unproven for Starting.

Detroit has no starting line up :) Nasty becn tho. Denver guys can't be judged till the regular season starts. They do have some good talents on paper tho.

Sac has the greatest starting five with either Divac or Bradley at C. Where is San Antonio tho?

Lakers, Dallas, Minnesota, Rockets - in that order.

Please note that the best starting 5 does NOT necessarily mean the best team. However, when you are looking at this list, you have to look at STARS - players who have a huge advantage at their position.

Lakers are the bestlooking one on paper with Kobe.
    Then Mavericks...ON PAPER.
    Then Minnesota.
    Then Kings.
    Then Spurs.
    Then Rockets.
    Then Nets.
Then Suns. Hornets are about equal to Suns.

Blazers and SOnics are about equal.

    Denver's not even close.

    Was that a Fraudian slip?

Unless Mourning comes back completely healthy, I don't think they're that good player for player.

Houston and Cleveland should have been included in that poll.
