Saw an article on chron.com awhile back about the 100 best sports logos, but it left much to be desired. That tends to happen when you include both the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors (dinosaur logo) in that top 100. So it got me to thinking, what would my favorites be... MLB: Houston Astros Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us A little bit of homer-ism here but the open star has a timeless look to it and I love the brick red. Minor Leagues: Quad Cities River Bandits Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us Probably the only place I'd wanna see cartoonish logos are in the minor leagues of any sport. That raccoon looks menacing as hell. NBA: Portland Trailblazers Spoiler I've always liked this logo. The color combination works and the logo itself is simple and clean. NFL: Atlanta Falcons Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Like the Blazers, I've just always liked this (current incarnation) logo. Again with the red/black color combination and the hawk is clean and menacing. Honorable mention to the Texans. Say what you will about the name, but the logo is kickass. MLS: Houston 1836 Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us The best logo that never was. Still the Dynamo with the orange/black color combination works very well. NE Revolution Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us Love the brushstroke look. NHL: Columbus Blue Jackets Spoiler Uploaded with ImageShack.us
My three current favorites: Chicago and Houston, on the whole, have had some of the coolest sports logos in history imo.
Always thought the Cleveland Indians Logo looks like a trollface http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:...logos.net/images/logos/53/57/full/741.gif&t=1
The longhorns sign. One of the most recognized symbols, and it's simple. Pretty accurate hand sign too
That Astros logo you used is terrible. If you're going to use one, use the popular, classic one which was basically the same one from 1965-1993.
I hate that one..I hate the rainbow look. If anything I'd be tempted to use the short lived blue and gold logo...I like the star from that one, but not so much the colors.
The current Astros logo is nothing compared to the original. I would love it if the new owners brought it back.
I like how some teams in the NBA have gone back to more of a retro look. The Sixers and Jazz have both gone back to a more retro look.
I'd say 90% of Houston likes that retro logo. The Astrso logo from 94-99 was the worst. Right up there with the last Rockets logo that had the pajama look. No star for me. Just give me the Dome with orange and blue any day.
the other best logo that never was: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jx0pTIDb-r0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jx0pTIDb-r0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Ha, as soon as I saw the blanks I knew it was probably sportslogos.net links They suck like that. Better off saving the images and uploading to imageshack or another pic place.
Not the best logos maybe, but I like clever logos that make use of the team name or letters into the logo, or the logo and mascot forms into the letters and such. Like the old Brewers logo As compared to the new professionally bland Or the old Cavs logo compared to the "polished"
