Looking for a good program where I can take home movies, photos, add music, voiceover, whatever....and make DVDs. Any suggestions?
The best amateur-targeted software for doing what you need is probably iMovie, but it only runs on the Mac. Otherwise, I have no idea.
I use windows movie maker; it is alright. The only problem with the program is that it freezes alot. Im sure there are better programs out there. -Lal Salam
iMovie is totally prime. It's really easy to use and iDVD is cool too if you're looking to make DVDs out of your movies.
I was curious and did a Google Search. You may want to check out Sony Vegas. Here's a link. I've never used this software, but it could be a starting point in a search for reviews.
Avoid Pinnacle Studio Plus 10 like the plague. The easiest one I think is Ulead Video Studio 9 and Movie Maker 4. They are idiot proof.
Yeah I have heard this before and its almost pushed me to buy a Mac. I pretty much only use my laptop for internet, email, music, photos, and soon movies.....just sorta freaked about making the jump to the Mac. (Despite the fact that I had one in 1995-98 and loved it)
www.avid.com used to have some type of free software available to use for basic stuff. Avid, along with Final Cut Pro, is used among many professionals.
IMO, Windows Movie Maker 2 is very easy to use, and powerful enough for most things that you'd need to do for home movies.
Thanks guys.....my laptop is about to die an awful death and I cannot wait til they ship the Mac Pro laptops....I need something now. On an amusing sidenote, my downstairs neighbor and I got into a "bass off" this evening...his party and my obviously superior sound system. A subwoofer cranked up to 11 plus Black Hawk Down completely overwhelmed whatever mtv top 20 he's playing downstairs. They just left for the bars.
I have tried both Pinnacle studio 9.0(got it free when I bought my Cannon) and cyberlink Power Director 5.0, I like power director 5.0 better. Here is the link of reviews of most popular viedo editing software http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/?ttreng=1&ttrkey=power+director
I use Vegas, and I think it's great, especially for the price. I've made around 15 or so home video montages with it so far, and all of them have been a huge success. We did a friend's wedding recently, and her entire family thought it was professionally done.
For quick movies, Windows Movie Maker. For elaborate titles on regular ASF, REAL, QuickTime, etc., Roxio VideoWave For REALLY expensive jobs, Adobe Premiere. droxford, I think most of us advanced PC geeks will grasp Premiere, but they want a wizard-driven one like WMovieMaker... no? Other than that, ULead MovieMaker and DVD Studio will make you great movies you can include in DVDs. It all depends what you want. Vegas is expensive... I haven't used it in a while...
