I think a lot of the time people really overlook Tracy because he has never really had a lot of supporting cast unlike Kobe who has always had at least Shaq. I don't believe the knock on Tracy's defense or his "ball hogging". I think Tracy might actually be a better overall player than Kobe. What do you guys think?

I think Tmac's better cause he has a better overall physigue. IMO, he can be better than Kobe if he learns how to tap into his potential. I think Van Gundy will bring the best out of him.
It will be interesting to see which guy evolves into the main guy. Jeff has never had the problem of picking between two superstars. This could be a problem if Yao and Tmac cannot check their egos.

One of the best charateristics of Yao is he gets along with people exceptionally well.

He does have the stupid ego many selfish professional athletes have. He doesn't even care about stats much at all.

I see he gets along with T-Mac well.

But I must say T-Mac isn't that mature as a person.

You sure about that? From all the pictures I've seen, it looks as though Kobe is noticeably more muscular, though T-Mac is taller and has longer arms.

And Kobe is? The guy who pretty much got Shaq traded because he couldnt find a way to calm down his ego and urge to show he could win without Shaq. Tracy accepts that Yao can be the first option. T-Mac knows that you need a dominant big man to win championships.

Also...which one is a part of a rape trial?

I wasn't comparing T-Mac to Kobe, but to Yao.

That said, I used to think Kobe was better than T-Mac because he is more of a competitor. But this summer Kobe really showed how much an ass he is.

About Kobe vs T-Mac, I'd say T-Mac has potential to be better than Kobe, to be a more complete player skillwise. But I'd still say Kobe is a more tough-minded than T-Mac--T-Mac probably will not be as much a leader as Kobe.

Before the Lakers vs Pistons series, I thought thought Kobe is definitely better. But after watching Prince completely shut down Kobe, I am not so sure. I remember Rockets also shut down Kobe pretty well. He was shooting some lowely 30% FG vs Rockets and Pistons. Prince would shut down T-Mac.

T-Mac will be considered much better player next season! Bank on it!

kobe's better at this point because he's had championship experience that mcgrady hasn't even dreamed about yet. i mean if you have a game 7 and need one of those guys on the court you'd be a fool not to pick kobe....at this point. i'd say that's about the only difference.

mcgrady certainly has the ability to play defense at a level even greater than kobe's and obviously offensively is every bit as skilled. i'd like to see a couple years of t-mac now that he has a dominant big man before i can really judge. i'll just say both will retire among the best ever at their position.

I was adding in potential as well. I think Tmac can close the muscle gap easily in the offseason. Tmac has something Kobe can never catch up to, and that is a taller height and longer arms. But I think I'am fine with Tmac's current body.

    Definately.

But then again, Kobe used to look like this:

So I think McGrady could get to that point eventually... he probably just likes where his body is now.

T-Mac potentially could be better, but Kobe is a harder worker in the offseason. T-Mac works too, but no one more than Kobe. Ofcourse, thsi summer may be an exception for Kobe, but previously I don't remember him coming back without at least one thing improved.

Another thing that Kobe has is the killer instinct - he is as clutch as anyone in the game. He's the most clutch player in the league right now, and ranks up there with all-time greats. Name one player in the league whom you'd rather have take the final shot over Kobe?

They're almost dead even. But I think the clutchness and difference in work ethic will be the difference.

Unfortunately, next season the media will make Kobe the clear #1. He's going to take all the shots he needs and average around 30ppg and still make the playoffs, whereas Tracy will probably drop down to around 24-25ppg while becoming much better defensively. As always, the media recognizes offense before defense. I'd love to meet them in the playoffs though so these guys can go head to head.
