Steve/Anderson Steve/Cuttino Tracy/Sura Tracy/Alston AB/Ron AB/Ariza AB/Martin Personally I would go with Tmac/Sura - Tmac was still a superstar and sura bought toughness that we didn't have until ron ron came here.
So the replacement of Lowry over AB suddenly turns Martin from a Mobley to a T-mac? I'm a supporter of starting Lowry but even that's preposterous for me. I think AB/Martin is better than any backcourt we've had in the past decade.
Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin = Worst defense ever! TMac played better defense back then and his offense was much better then Martin all around. Sura didn't have Brooks offense but played solid D.
the best is easily Tmac/Sura Tracy in the 04-05 season was THAT good (people seem to forget even though now he is downright terrible) and sura was as gritty as they come and was a constant 10/5/5 type player the one my heart chooses Mobley and Francis...they weren't the smartest players nor the most talented but they were sure fun to watch and worked their butts off. I guess something about both of them starting their careers with the rockets enamored them more to me. Brooks and Martin may become the best but cant really put them up there and also we havent seen how Lowry plays with martin
I feel like most the answers will be a bit biased, given that Kev and AB are our current guards. I'm tempted to go with one of the two Mac duos, he was still in his prime then. But I just don't like the other players he was paired with. Therefore I shall go with Francis and Mobs.
I voted for the one that won 22 games in a row, but it's all close with the current backcourt and Steve/Cat.
Mac/Sura. A lean, athletic swingman who could finish at the rim and pull the trigger from anywhere on the floor, and the gritty, blue collar floor general.
People who voted for Brooks and Martin make me laugh. I like both players but really this is just another case of what have you done for me lately. T-mac and Sura were the most dynamic and worked the floor extremely well. It's not even a contest.
C'mon, people. We may not be the biggest McGrady fans, but the pre-injury-destruction McGrady single handedly destroyed any backcourt this team has ever had, especially this decade.
I agree completely with this post. I don't know if McGrady is "downright terrible", though. He just looks out of shape, like a guy who hasn't played in a year. But we'll see. If he is terrible, though, then Morey and Adelman really are brilliant.
McGrady/Sura..... A 25 yr old McGrady(def. Scoring champ), would single handedly destroy Martin/Brooks, not to mention Sura could easily guard Martin, but would struggle to stay in front of brooks.... --RB
Why did they both have to get injured? If they had stayed healthy I'm positive they would have gotten to the second round and possibly to the WCF.
No doubt it was a Healthy/Caring T-mac with Sura... Probably some of the new guys on this board have never seen Sura play.
I think he means Martin will just be getting the ball more with the addition of Lowry since Brooks doesn't pass the rock as much.
