remember shooter and scorer are different....i have to go with murphy.....he onced avg 20ppg and had a 52% fgp....rice? smith? johnson? novak? berrys?
I'd have to think about this, but Calvin is a good guess... not counting him, Rudy T was a hell of a shooter, too.
It would have been interesting to see Murph play today where more 3's are shot per posession. But, if you look at the shooters of my generation who shot over 91% from the line in a season, it puts him on a list with the greats. Miller, Kerr, Rauf, Hornacek, Nash, Allen, Bird, Peja maybe, Price, and so on.
Matt Maloney i remember him hittin 6 3 pointers in a row vs the Sonics or someone. he just brought the ball up the court and drained 3 after 3 just like a prime t-mac.
He made up for it by sucking the rest of the year. Maloney was more pure garbage than pure shooter. Just kidding Matt, you earned your 115 year - $800 quadrillion contract we're still probably paying you.
I believe he was and still might be the rocket's all time 3 point percentage leader, that being said, he was a product of Rudy's offense and Dream's kick-outs. Hornacek would have hit 70% if he was being fed by Dream.
He was a good spot-up 3 point shooter, but he was not a pure shooter AT ALL. The guy is something like a 40% career FG% shooter. That's not a "pure shooter" to me.
just like Tracy Mcgrady in Orlando and Tracy McGrady in Houston. same person! Well Calvin Murphy would be the best pure shooter, his shot was nice! Kenny's shot had no arch, but I wouldn't leave that guy open.
When did Maloney ever take over Kenny as the best shooter on the Rockets for 3s? Kenny played for 6 seasons as a Rocket, Maloney barely made 3
I just looked it up and, incredibly, Bull isn't even top 10 all time on our list (Ron Artest is #7... ).
i like matt the person, but he was garbage. if you take one game into account, well we can put rafer up there (remember that ridiculous shooting exhibition v. the lakers for our 22 game winning streak? ) purvis short had a great stroke, though his prime was in GS. eddie johnson had a great stroke though, but again his prime was in GS. calvin murphy had a great fg% but he wasn't a long range shooter. but he was a great shooter (indicated by his ridiculously high ft%) kenny smith was great with us (career 48%, 40% from 3s) you can put in horry/sam as they all have had great careers shooting the ball, and started out as rockets. right now, aaron brooks is a pretty good shooter i would say. if he's open, he's almost automatic. and NOVAK! just gotta put that in there. but if i had to choose, i choose kenny the jet though
