What are some of your favorite prime time lineups? I'm talking about those nights where your phone was either unplugged, or you warned all your friends and family that somebody better be dead before they called you...my top 3... 1) ABC Monday Night: 1986-1991 - MacGuyver followed by Monday Night Football. Oh man, so many great memories of MacGuyver blowing up a building with some silly putty, duct tape, and a 9 volt battery followed by Lawrence Taylor ripping the heads off NFC East quarterbacks...Monday Night Football has never been the same since MacGuyver went off the air... 2) FOX Sunday Night: 1999-2001 - Simpsons, King of the Hill, Futurama, and X-Files. Great cartoons and government conspiracies. 3) ABC Friday Night: 1988-1989 - The ORIGINAL TGIF lineup. Perfect Strangers, Full House, Mr. Belveder, and Just the Ten of Us. In '89, Mr. Belvedere was replaced with Family Matters. I guess this lineup was cool because I was going through puberty at the time and those two chicks on Perfect Strangers were so hot...Between them, Danica McKellar on The Wonder Years, and Christina Applegate on Married With Children, I had plenty of...hmmm...awkward moments?? edit: Here's the link for all the lineups from 1953 to present in case anybody wants to flash back. Just click on that box that says "more lineups" to change the year... http://www.tvguide.com/50th/timecapsule/whatwason/1953.asp
The original Thursday Night Must See TV was pretty good. The Cosby Show Family Ties Cheers Night Court Currently, Sunday night is still the best for me.
Anyone remember the early eighties CBS Dukes of Hazard Dallas Falcon Crest Friday nights, I of course tuned out after them Duuuke Boys.
Right now, Tuesday night is my primetime lineup: 8:00 PM WB - Buffy FOX - American Idol 9:00 PM FOX - 24 As for past lineups, FOX Sunday nights, as A-Train mentioned, is only eclipsed by NBC's Must-See-TV Thursday night lineup (when it was actually good).
I live for Tuesdays 8pm CST. Everyone knows not to even talk to me for the 60 minutes when Jack Bauer is trying to save us all.
Discovery Channel - Monday night: Monster Garage and American Chopper (has anyone else seen this show?)
Man, I forgot about that one! Night Court was definitely one of the most underrated sitcoms ever. Harry, Dan, Bull, Mac, Roz, and Christine had the best chemistry of any sitcom cast...
Anyone remember when "The Simpsons" moved to Thursday night 7pm CST to go head-to-head with the juggernaut that was "The Cosby Show"?? I think FOX wanted to steal some of that vaunted Thursday night viewership that NBC had a stranglehold on. I was always so conflicted as to which one to watch. I would flip back and forth from NBC and FOX furiously and ended up not fully enjoying either show.
The Cosby Show was way past its prime by the time the Simpsons moved to Thursdays. The Simpsons just put Cosby out of his misery. The Cosby Show had about 500 cast members and was too confusing.
Maybe I'm loyal to a fault. I couldn't give up on Cosby until the very end. Just like I watched 90210 even though I thought the final few seasons were excruciatingly bad. I still felt I had to watch, because I loved the show so much in its prime. Hell I still love the Titans, so what do I know?
is that the one with the super custom choppers? the Spiderman chopper is tre-cool lookin... oh yea... on topic... Sun nite on Fox .. Futurama Simpsons Malcolm end of XFiles
The Survivor/CSI combo on CBS Thursdays is pretty good. Simpsons/Oliver Beane/Malcom on Fox Sundays is starting to become one of my favorites as well.
You guys are too young. The best lneup EVER was on CBS on Saturday nights in the 70's: All in the Family Mash The Mary Tyler Moore Show The Bob Newhart Show The Carol Burnett Show Now THAT was must see TV.
touche.. I remember that lineup... We watched it every week...my Dad loved Archie's battles with Meathead.. I loved watching MTM and Carol Burnett... Harvey and Tim are comedy GODS!!
both grew up on the west side of houston both love the rockets both love the astros both love the texans both love JCI both love DMB both love Ed and, yes...both freaking love Bob Newhart!!! classic!
Do you ever get the theme song stuck in your head for hours at a time? It's honestly the only thing I ever get stuck in my head that doesn't drive me batty. It's in there now.
