if JFK is a political movie, then that's probably my favorite.

I think the remake was just as cool, it's just not cool to say that.

Can I count all the seasons of West Wing as one big movie? :)

Doesn't Broderick Crawford play a character patterned after H.P Long in All The King's Men?

I rented the original Manchurian Candidate when the remake came out because I hadn't seen it and I had heard it was a towering cinemagraphic achievement. Maybe it's because my expectations going in were very high, but I thought it was nothing special.

My vote for political movie: Doctor Strangelove.

I have never seen Starship Troopers, but if the movie is anything like the book, it would have to be one of the best.

It's nothing like the book. In fact you'd never think there was a relation between the two if they had different names.

No, but "The American President" counts, as it was written by Sorkin, is more or less a sibling to WW, and even includes Martin Sheen in the cast.

    "Dave" is also pretty nifty.
