I've done a little research this year, but not enough .... but this year I need to help a couple of people in my league who are out of town before the draft by pointing them in the right direction. I'm just noticing now that ESPN is charging this year for most of their analysis ("The Edge"? Wonder if it's worth it) ... I always found their rankings based on the fantasy drafts they run (and who is moving up over the past week) to be helpful. I did find Sportsline's rankings to be helpful: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/fantasy/story/7158199 It also looks like NFL.com has a decent section: http://www.nfl.com/fantasy/features I think most of my friends will feel comfortable selecting in the top 3-4 rounds or so ... but after that they (and I for that matter) could use help finding sources of info to pick out some mid to late gems. Curious if you know what the best sources of online research for fantasy football are ... or if you've found any online to be helpful? Thanks, Clutch
www.rototimes.com is very good at updating you on the daily injuries of the NFL and other sports. I scan their player notes page daily to find out tidbits that can be useful in waiver wire moves and pickups.
Thanks guys for the info! Those 3 links were very helpful. Email me in the future if I can return the favor somehow.
Best fantasy football site on the web bar none is http://www.footballguys.com The free stuff on this site and the message board are awesome. But, if you truly love football and want to win your fantasy league, get the subscription. Not terribly expensive and the tools you get are freakin amazing, not to mention hundreds of great articles. Bar none, the best. All grew up the same way this site did, a guy with a passion.
I like www.fanball.com for daily player updates. I used to love the Sporting News site, but now, like everything else, it's a pay site. All in all, there is still some good stuff out there, but most of it costs money.
well, since you asked... i'll promote the site i've been hired to work on: fantasygms.com It's a subscription site, but I'll be covering the AFC South this year. Make sure to listen for me on Sporting News radio throughout the year... I'll be sure to hype the Texans and Titans to no end!
I thought I'd bump this thread from last year when I asked for some research help for some friends ... well this year I need it for myself I've been so busy with this move that I forgot that I had a draft tonight. Last year you guys had great suggestions (which I'm looking over again now) and someone hooked me up with access to grogansports.com, which was very helpful as well. Just curious if anyone knows some great resources for 2005. Thanks!
I can tell you, but there's a price. Seriously though, I never remember the sites, but I generally just Google 2005 fantasy football mock drafts and go from there. How many teams in your league and what pick do you have? How's the league set up? I've been talking non-stop about fantasy football since the wedding, so I'm itching to talk about it here.
It's a 12-team league and I have the #2 pick. If Tomlinson does not go first, I would take him ... but I expect him to go #1. I should be OK right now for the first couple of rounds, but I'd like to have some good ideas for great picks after Round 2-4 or so. Basically, I need to do research
LT seems like the consensus #1 in every mock draft I've seen, not to mention in every draft I've been in so far. How's the scoring? What do QBs get for passing TDs? I think that second pick is tough this year.
6 points for a passing TD. The league debated going to 4, but stuck with 6. Scoring is fairly standard: 6 points for every passing, receiving or rushing TD, 1 point for every 20 yards rushing or receiving, 1 point for every 50 passing yards. Also, you play 1 QB and 3 RBs (or 2 RBs and a WR/RB slot, which is usually best used on a RB). Thanks a million man - that will be a huge help.
