Hey guys, Sorry if this is not supposed to be in this forum. But where's the best place in town to purchase OOP CD's? I've been looking for a couple of CD's, and now I find out they are Out Of Print. Thanks.
coma, I literally went to about 8 different used CD places around the 1960 area, and I found very little. I did find some things I was looking for, but not very much. Then I looked on eBay. I tell you, you can get a much better deal than the used CD stores, and almost always find what you're looking for. Just be sure you don't get into a bidding war and bid more than you want to pay for the CD. If someone out bids you, just wait for the next one to become available, and the next one always becomes available. Also, if you're not having much luck at eBay, or if idiots are bidding too high, try www.half.com On occassion you will find some CDs for less there than they are going for on eBay. I was looking for many CDs to fill out my Jethro Tull collection, and many of them were out of print. I bought about 60% of them on eBay and about 40% from half.com, and I didn't have any problems with any of them (and I'm very anal about my CDs). Now, I'm only ONE CD away from having a complete Jethro Tull collection! If anyone wants to buy me "A" by Jethro Tull for my birthday, that'd be great.
Thanks guys. I actually did check eBay, but it was damned expensive. I was looking for the two albums by Traveling Wilburys. I have dubbed copies on cassette, but, you know, it's cassette. Well, I guess I'll have to shell out $60 buck for a CD I should've bought years earlier.
Most of the record stores with OOP stuff aren't around any longer. If anyone has them, it will be the used places like Sound Exchange, Soundwaves or Half Price Books and Records. You can also have a place like Amazon.com look for you. It might be a little less than Ebay.
You may be able to download these songs off MP3 sites such as kazaa. You can download kazaa off www.download.com
Is Record Rack still around? I remember I used to live there in my techno/rave/industrial phase... . I can't remember if there was more than one, but the one I used to go to was on S. Shepherd near Alabama I think; but definitely on S. Shepherd. They used to be have some hard to find stuff; maybe they have it or you could ask them if they could get it.
Hmm...just did a search and even online places (other than eBay) are expensive. For example, you can do a search for them at : http://www.htfcds.com/ (they have it, but expensive... what's bizarre is it appears to be their "featured out-of-print cd's" so as soon as you go to the site, there they are... lol) http://www.gemm.com/ appears to be another place that specializes in hard to find stuff, but I didn't find any Traveling Wilburys stuff there.
