A friend of mine was telling me to stay away from WHOLE FOODS Cause they are overly expensive Recommended some Farmer's Markets etc I dunno where any are Where is the best place to get more organic/healthy foods Looking for things like this: rice flour, whole wheat flour, walnut oil and peanut oils - and raw unbleached sugar and flour Rocket River
They are pretty overpriced as well. Farmer's markets is your best bet. Check out http://www.localharvest.org/
you can get relatively decent prices if you stick to Whole Foods 365 brand. for the type of stuff you want, you may be able to get in bulk on the internet at good prices?
Good link Legend, others include: nativeharvest.com farmerchefconnection.com duda.com I recommend you and anyone else to buy local, organic, or any other reliable food source. Only then will the price change for the better. Even if it only gets more expensive I will keep buying it. Buying industrial produce, Eww! You would have to eat 10 peaches today to get the same amount of Vitamin A in a peach in the 1940's. I reccomend reading, Michael Pollans, In Defense of Food.
I must be going to the wrong Farmer's Markets b/c they always seem more expensive than Whole Foods or Central Market... Nevertheless, it's good to support the local farmers.
If you can find a Trader Joes near your area, try that. They have some great unique grocery items and they are very well priced too. Whole Foods rips you off big time.
I was going to post Trader Joes as well but I assumed OP is from Texas and I don't think they have that there.
