Do you guys think that Steve Francis is arguably the best piont guard in the nba.People put him in 4th place.I put him in 1st. What do you think?
1) Carefull with spelling, especially in titles. I am by no means one to throw stones, just a friendly reminder. 2) If you are going to ask a question like that, back up your position with something more than opinion, or all you will get is opinion back at you. I am sure you have reasons for your position, so explain them, and elicit better responses. Just my opinion.
He is not the best passer or defender. He is the hardest to defend and the most complete at his position. Thats why so many don't feel he is a true point. If I where an apossing coach I would fear Francis and Kidd the most (for diffrent reasons). But they both can control the game and destroy apossing Ds. With winning comes his respect, So hopefully after next season when he does well in the playoffs he will get it.
Heh heh..... Anyway, yeah. SF is my boy, best there is. Better than Jason Kidd in my Opinion. JKidd didn't hit his stride until he was 28-29, Steve will be better. That is why all the nay sayers on this board need to calm the hell down and that is why JVG came out of retirement.
I defend Steve to no end (with all these haters on this board I need to!) but I don't know about him being #1. I'd definitely put him in the top 3 right now, with Marbury and Kidd being the other two. Let's break it down though: Scoring: Steve's the best PG at pure scoring. Plain and Simple. He can do it however he wants. He lead the position in scoring for 3-4 months until he cooled off at the end of the season. Runner up in this category is Marbury. Rebounding: I place him as the best rebounding PG. He can get up highest and it pays off. Runner up is Kidd Assists: He's in the top 7 PG's here. Kidd, Marbury and Payton clearly beat him out here, but people never want to point out that he's still beating out about 22 other starting PG's in the league. Turnovers: People always try to use this against him, but what they neglect to mention is how Kidd led the league in Turnovers per game this season. If you don't wanna count it for Kidd, don't count it for Steve. So that's how it breaks down. Those are the reasons why I surely put him in the top 3, but hey, the Steve bashing is gonna come soon enough anyway.
No, that's got to be Stephon Marbury. Steve is close, but imo, Marbury is probably the hardest defender to stop in the league. If Stephon had Jason Kidd's or John Stockton's brain, he could be the best point guard ever. Of course, the same can be said about Steve.
I think Steve is the best in all catagories as he constantly improves. Stephon is good, but Steve is so much stronger and a better rebounder and controls the game better. Kidd has been better for the last couple of years but as he ages he gets worse and Steve gets better. The balance will shift... the center cannot hold...
he's definitely a top 5 PG Kidd Marbury Francis Parker Nash those were just off the top of my head in no particular order.
Actually, I'd like to see him go after less rebounds. He goes after too many rebounds instead of getting out on the wing and starting a fast break. That's part of the reason we HAD no fast break last season IMO. Don't get me wrong, I like the effort and heart it takes for him to get rebounds, but he needs to remember what position he plays.
Sorry dude but that is a really terrible thing to say. Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kobe, T-Mac... anyone who is great always fights for the rebound. That is what sets a scorer apart from a baller, a complete game - a will to do whatever it takes to win. Everyone on a team should try to rebound every loose ball.
O.k. No offense but I'm kinda of ticked off. What are you my teacher?I don't apreciate you correcting me.
I think that Steve, AT THIS STAGE OF HIS CAREER, is better than JKidd, Marbury, maybe even the Glove. JKidd started busting out when he was late 20s, and Marbury has also taken a while. GP has been pretty consistent, but I think SF is much better than them in only his 4th year. Have patience with him; he's going to be a great PG. But right now, compared to the talent out there, I'd have to only place him in the top 5, with JKidd, GP, Marbury and the recently retired John Stockton as the other 4.
Actually MacBeth is the Newbie teacher. All Newbies get their posts passed through MacBeth's e-mail and he is supposed to let them in on the etiquette here at CC.net. And if you are really a girl Maria, then we are really sorry. We need all the girls we can get here and MacBeth promises to leave you alone for at least ten hours while he sleeps. But if you are a gnarly old man who uses the moniker Maria you should be notified that is another Newbie no-no. You must immediately change your name to Gramps.
Just to let ya know,I'm a girl. And Sorry mcbeth.I am one of few females at my school interested in sports. My two favorite is Wrestling and basketball.I also like the homerun derby
The best PGs... Kidd Payton Marbury Francis Nash On the rise? Parker Arenas Most would say Kidd is the best. Since he makes his teammates so much better. I think that could be the biggest knock on Francis. Some might argue that Marbury is better because he led the Suns to the playoffs and Francis didn't (same argument that people used for ROY - Amare over Yao). I really don't like Kidd, but I can see why people say he's the best PG in the league.
