The current http://www.nba.com Poll is asking:
    Which big man
    (6-foot-10 or taller)
    is the best passer?

    The choices are:
    Vlade Divac
    Tim Duncan
    Kevin Garnett
    Toni Kukoc
    Karl Malone
    Brad Miller
    Shaquille O'Neal
    Rasheed Wallace

Is Yao not a good passer? Maybe not great or the best but they put Shaq in the list. Is Shaq a better passer than Yao? Just wondering about some of those choices ;)

Shaq isn't fancy with his passes, but he's efficient, and it gets the job done. He handles the double team well, and he's not shy about passing out. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's a "passing center", as he doesn't really play the passing game like Vlade, but he's good at what he does, obviously.

Of the choices, Vlade is the best on the list.

    TD and Sheed are next.

ok this has got to be said...

Yao has a lot of bad luck here...

how many times have we seen him make passes only to have boki or padgett or last year hawkins or motay miss those damn layups...

    come on now

I vote for KG since he is the only big man to lead his team in assist LAST YEAR.

They probably figured if Yao was on that list, we'd all make sure he won the poll. :)

Shaq is a great passer, and at this point of his career, undeniably better than Yao. Yao might have better fundamentals, but Shaq is more experienced, has better vision, and delivers the ball more consistently. I would say the best now is Shaq or Garnett.

Yao should be on this poll!

Those other big men are decent passers...but Yao can pass as well as any of them...the hell!

    Vlade and then KG

I think Yoa is a really good passer but he really has not done enough to merit placing him in that group just yet...although I do think he is better than Brad Miller, Sheed and Shaq but his assists just do not show it.

It is difficult to say who is the best passer from stats. Assists depends on teammates's shot percentage. If you guys check JJ, CATO and Boki's terrible and inconsistent open shots, you would say YAO wasted a lot of passes.

YAO is good passer, but maybe not the best. What I expect is YAO really needs to improve on his rebound, even if he has nice stats in RB now. When ROX enforce his opponents to low shot percentage, YAO and CATO were supposed to have much chance to gain more RBs!

I know Rasheed's a willing passer, but I never thought he was a very good one...

    Karl Malone's listed at 6'9.

    KG.

Yao has the skills to be one of the best, but needs to improve his decision making in that department imo. When the team really starts to gell offensively, it should be pretty dangerous with the o running thru Yao(assuming he will get the double and take advantage of it) because of all the good jumpshooters we have(SF, Mobes, Pike, Motay, JJ).

Vlade definitely. He's averaging a good amount of assists with less touches than Garnett. Yao is good so far, but like someone said. we can't hit our shots and plus we swing the ball around so he loses his assist. Yao should fake more passes and then go to the basket.

What a ridiculous poll. Did they leave out C-Web because he's injured? Webber is the best passer of the big men in the league now the Arvydis is done. Vlade is a close second.

Certainly taller than Malone, if not Kukoc.
