What is your choice for best out of print (meaning that the label no longer makes it) CD/album? I am going to have to go with "The Aeroplane Flies High" box set by the Smashing Pumpkins. 5 separate CDs with each one featuring a single from "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" in "Zero", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "33", "Tonight, Tonight" and "1979". Some of my all-time favorite Pumpkins songs are on that box set including "God", "Set the Ray to Jerry", and "Blank".
Definately not hte best, but the CD I'm having the hardest time finding is Opie Gone Bad's debut CD. They're a local band here in Denver and pretty damn popular. Unfortunately, the recording company they used for that CD went out of business and now won't sell the rights to the CD back to the band. Sucks because it has classics like: "Sympathy For The Devil/Livin' For The City" "Whereyawannabe" and "Can We Please Have Sex?"
As the serious Pumpkins fan that I am, I'll have to check that out, Manny. I assume Jimmy is playing on all the songs? As far as out of print CD's, I think Jeff would have to agree with me that the best would have to be The Big One Is Coming by a little band from Denton called Ten Hands. Very Zappa-esque, with a lot of funk. 5 amazing musicians (see name of band) from the UNT Jazz dept. They used to tear it up regularly at Fitz's back in the early 90's. Good times.
Yup, ima, Jimmy is on the drums for all of these songs. Here are some reviews: Also, check this link out (a list by yours truly): BTW - have you heard anything about Zwan breaking up after only 1 album? I thought I read somewhere that Paz has left and Billy has now scrapped the band. God, I hope that isn't true!
Plexi - Cheer Up This is one of the best cd's I've ever listened to. It's a shame they broke up, really good stuff.
I can never find the debut or one only record from a band called: the Last dammit. Wonderful powerpop, bubblegum guitar anthems
The original broadway recording of Chess. My copy is scratched to hell and I still listen to it regularly. I need a new one damnit!
Heh. I have my copy. I actually have had this CD in my car for a year or so and listen to it a few times a week. Love the music in it. They should still sell it.
I would have to say Sly Stone - Small Talk I have it on vinyl - it is my favorite Sly album, and it is also one of my favorite albums of all time. It is very underrated and forgotten. Don't ask me why.
Mission of Burma (on Rykodisc) It was 80 minutes (yes, 80) of pretty much everything put out by Mission of Burma.
