For those who workout, what's your favorite nighttime supplement to keep the anabolic process going? Some proteins can keep you awake, and I imagine sugar would be the last thing you want in your system before bed. I understand that it supresses the growth hormone release that occurs a ways into the sleep cycle. Also, anyone like HMB?
Which? The recovery supplement? No, I'm looking for a supplement that feeds the anabolic (or muscle-building processes) at night. And FWIW, as long as you don't snack on sugar ... and aren't too old... your body releases some growth hormone a while after going to sleep and that burns some fat, but any type of metabolic enhancer taken at night could really screw-up your sleep. As for HMB, claims are made that it assists the anabolic processes by keeping muscle from being torn-down (essentially digested) by the body.

Cohen, look into glutamine. It helps to specifically burn fat instead of lean muscle. You take it a couple of times a day.
Yep. I take extra glutamine, but you need a balance of aminos to build muscle. I am going to try Twinlab's PM formula. They use milk protein since it takes longer for the body to assimilate than whey. And thanks guys, but I think I'll stay away from the chili dogs and gummi bears.
